I was looking for an alternative to my other favorite sunscreen, Aloe Gator. While Aloe Gator works extremely well and lasts, I was concerned that my skin was becoming sensitive to it's chemical sunscreens. Blue Lizard Sensitive Skin or Baby (basically same product, different packaging) is a physical barrier sunscreen with no overlap of active ingredients with the Aloe Gator. Since I scuba dive, I also needed a sunscreen that would survive extended exposure to water. This does. It is effective and lasts all day. Highly recommended.

This is the only sunscreen that my fair redheaded son can use without irritation. In addition, he has yet to have a sunburn even when vacationing in the Caribbean because we use this sunscreen. We have tried other brands, such as Aveeno, coppertone baby, Nutrogena sensitive etc -- this one has the greatest range of protection as well as it is non-irratating on sensitive skin. It isn't the easiest to apply - and you have to rub it in well -- but it is well worth it. The bottle changes in UV light -- also a nice feature.

As a very light-skinned Southern Californian, I've worn sunscreen daily for over 20 years, and this is a very close second to the best one I've found. Blue Lizard's Sensitive Skin is my preference only because it's just a bit thicker. According to my research, chemical sunscreens tend to be a bit more waterproof because they soak into the skin rather than cover it like mineral sunscreens do (and both these Blue Lizard products are entirely mineral barrier types). On the other hand, the safety of these chemicals soaking under the skin is not as well established as I would like to see. I find chemical types more irritating (especially if they are applied near the eyes -- since they soak in, they find their way into my eyes). Even more problematic is that they scatter UV rather than block it, and break down within hours as they do so. Finally, they do not cover the UVB spectrum as well as mineral based products. Avobenzone (a/k/a Parsol 1789) is probably the best chemical sunscreen, but it breaks down within 2 hours in the sun. One manufacturer claims to have found a way to stabilize it, but consumer groups say it still only lasts a few hours. Minerals do not lose effectiveness. They don't need reapplication unless you are doing something to wash them away such as swimming (and Blue Lizard seems pretty waterproof). I've gone out in the sun in Hawaii all day, including a dip or two in the pool, with no reapplication and no sun burn. Blue Lizard is reasonable in price for fairly high percentage content of both common minerals used in sun blocks, zinc and titanium. The lotion is mild and fragrance free, making about the least irritating product for me I have found. This larger bottle is less expensive than Sensitive Skin's smaller container. I find the differences between the two so small I opt for the Baby formula. Finally, I find it cool that the bottle changes color in UV, just to let you know there's plenty of UV to be protected from.

Our 2 year old daughter has eczema, and this sunscreen has never caused her to break out! There was a time over the summer when I couldn't find it anywhere, and so we used other stuff- and everything gave her a rash. I have now stocked my closet with it. She has never gotten a burn- even when she's in the sun all day- and I love that it's non-comedogenic. Can't recommend it highly enough!

My kid loves the bottle - he was very surprised to see it change color in the sun.

This sunblock really helps my skin look great without clogging my pores. It goes on a little white, but so are all physical sunscreens. This seems to be extremely sweat proof and works well for me during athletic training. This is a product I can't live without after trying it.

Where has this sunscreen been all my life? I have spent hundreds of dollars buying expensive chemical sunscreens from Europe and Japan trying to find a formula that is photostable (meaning that it does not lose effectiveness in a few hours). While highly protective, those other sunscreens tend to leave a thick shiny film that clogs pores and practically requires industrial solvent to wash off completely. Blue Lizard Baby has an excellent fragrance-free stable zinc-based all-physical formula that blends in quickly without balling up and doesn't leave a greasy or overly shiny finish. Best of all it hasn't clogged my pores, which are large/open/damaged/acne-prone. A great value for the price. Be careful with the bottle though: keep it upright and squeeze gently so too much doesn't come out.

I began using this sunscreen because it is a brand my Dermatologist sells. As a sunscreen I think it works well. I have never had sunburn while wearing it. When I finish the bottle I have, I plan to purchase only natural products with organic ingredients.

This is the best sunscreen on the market. I use it myself and also on my two girls (age 2 and 4) at our dermatologist's recommendation; who uses Blue Lizard for his entire family. Absolutely no irritation and no unpleasant smell unlike some of the well known brands we have tried over the years. It is very emollient, but not at all greasy. It provides superior protection throughout the day. I also like the sensitive skin formula, which is a bit thicker, but the ingredient list is identical to the baby formula.

This sunscreen is safer than most and offers bettter UVA protection with fewer potentially toxic ingredients. I found it on EWG's sunscreen website which ranks sunscreens by how hazardous they are.
