Indications

For the temporary relief of burning, irritation, and discomfort due to dryness of the eye or exposure to wind or sun. May be used as a Protectant against further irritation.

Directions

Instill 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed. Use only if the imprinted tape seals on top and bottom flaps are intact and clearly legible.

For External Use Only. To avoid contamination, do not touch tip of container to any surface. Replace the cap after using. Do not use if solution changes color. Stop use and ask doctor if you experience eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness, or irritation of the eye, or if the condition worsens or persists for more than 72 hours. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help right away. Retain this carton for future reference.

Best So Far by Jan in Bluffton, SC on 8/20/08 Pros: Easy To Use, Gentle, Refreshing, Soothes Eyes Best Uses: Daily Use, Dry Eyes Bottom Line: recommended Optive is the best by far and my Ophthalmologist has tried me on all. Systane is runny and blurs my vision for a good while. Optive is soothing and causes no visual problems. I have a serious dry eye problem so I am pleased to find a product that works well.

I would NOT try this one again by Dee Dee in Ohio on 7/22/08 Cons: Burned, Harsh, Irritates Eyes Describe Yourself: Cataract surgery Dry eye Bottom Line: not recommended While I see many positives for Optive, it didn't work that way for me. (I wish it had) I was given it after Cataract surgery and esp. for dry eyes. WOW I went thru the roof as if I'd put lye into my eyes. The doctor gave me Systane instead and it worked much better for 'me'.

At my last eye exam my ... by Anonymous in Undisclosed on 3/31/08 At my last eye exam my ophthalmologist said I have mild dry eye and should use lubricant drops daily. He handed me a handful of different brand samples which I tried within the following week. Optive turned out to be my favorite of all four. The other brands (while effective) made my vision so blurry that I can only use them at bed time. Optive lubricant Drops are soothing and very lubricating. In fact, they clear my vision to crystal clarity. Dry eye conditions can cause sudden blurry vision when least expected. Optive is great and my only wish is that they make it available in individual applicators which is better for sensitive eyes and more sanitary. I'm also taking a nutritional supplement "Thera Tears Omega-3 Dry-Eye Relief Capsules. It contains fish oils, flaxseed oil, and vitamin E and is supposed to relieve the condition from the inside out.

I have very dry and itchy ... by Anonymous in Undisclosed on 1/21/08 I have very dry and itchy eyes from wearing contacts and always wake up with painful burning in my eyes. I tried Optive right before I go to bed and it relieves dryness and itchiness. It leaves the eyes a little crusty around the eyelashes so I don't wear with my contacts or during the day.

My Therapeutic ... by Anonymous in Undisclosed on 7/31/07 My Therapeutic Optometrist gave me a sample bottle of this medicine last week. I must say it does the trick and my eyes stay lubricated. I just put 1 or 2 drops in each eye before I go on the computer or start reading and I'm fine all day. I would recommend this to anyone with a dry eye problem. It does work.
