I was prescribed Mucinex ... by Anonymous in Undisclosed on 9/18/07 I was prescribed Mucinex as a treatment for interstitial cystitis, and it has helped my urethritis a lot. I still take Cystex occasionally, but just at the first twinge of something in my bladder, and then it goes away.

Guiafenesin is an ... by Paul N in BATAVIA, IL on 4/25/06 Guiafenesin is an expectorant, not a decongestant -- it is supposed to make nasal and bronchial secretions thinner. I had an annoying problem with thick mucus clogging up my eustachian tubes; I took this religiously twice a day for three weeks, and my ears were a lot less pluggy. Not perfect -- just better. Drinking lots of water helps, too.

You will need to drink more water and blow your nose more often. I've found it does what it's supposed to without any ill side effects.
