Has antiseptic activity and a persistent animicrobial effect with rapid bactericidal activity against a wide range of microorganisms.

Warnings
For external use only. Keep out of eyes, ears, and mouth. Hibiclens should not be used as a preoperative skin preparation of the face or head. Misuse of Hibiclens has been reported to cause serious and permanent eye injury when it has been permitted to enter and remain in the eye during surgical procedures. If Hibiclens should contact these areas, rinse out promptly and thoroughly with water. Avoid contact with meninges. Hibiclens should not be used by persons who have a sensitivity to it or its components. Chlorhexedine gluconate has been reported to cause deafness when instilled in the middle ear through perforated ear drums. Irritation, sensitization and generalized allergic reactions have been reported with chlorhexedine-containing products, especially in the genital areas. If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use immediately and if severe, contact a physician. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. In case of accidental ingestion, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately. Store at controlled room temperature 68°-77° F.

Love my Hibiclens!

I bought this product after a friend's suggestion. I have used many products over the years but this one is the one I like the best to clear up my face. I love it! I have very bad rosacea on my face. Hibicleans doesn't sting and my face feels smoother now. You have to be careful not to get it in your eyes, mouth or ears. I use a clean old washcloth to apply and use Clorox-2, which is non-clorine, to wash the washcloth, so it gets the washcloth clean without staining. I use this every other day now. Love it!

Good stuff but hate the new pump

This last order came with a huge pump on the cap instead of regular cap. I HATE THESE! Too hard to store. I have to order so many [...] and they take up twice the size in the bathroom and I generally refill small bottles anyway. Tell them to dump that big huge pump on top!

Beware of Clothing Stains with Hibiclens

Beware that Hibiclens contains a red color that can stain clothing. The pump nozzle tends to clog with dried solution and if you pump hard it can send a thin squirt of stuff all over the place. Worst, if you try to get rid of the pink stain using a chlorine bleach it will suddenly turn the pink into an indelible brown stain that can never be removed. I ruined a beautiful white cotton shirt this way. I called the 1-800 number on the product and they confirmed that chlorine bleach must never be used to remove the pink stain. My question - why would they use this stupid pink color that has no practical use?

My husband has been suffering from boil like bumps for months. He has taken two rounds of antibiotic and they would leave for 1-2 weeks. He started using Hibicleans along with a round of antibiotc and he has not had a bump since!!! I have already told others who have suffered from the same thing this is the answer. I found placing the liquid in a hair stylist thin nozzle perm bottle works great for dispensing.

I love this product. I work a lot with cacti and spiney succulents and often get stabs and scraps that get infected. Sometimes even becoming painful abscesses too. I use this product to wash any wound areas to sterilize them and I haven't had an infection since using it, and I used to get them often before I used it. I gave a bottle to a friend of mine who had bad acne on his chest and he uses it every time he takes a shower (he uses it after his regular soap down) and his acne is virtually gone. He swears by it now. I think it's great to have handy and I keep several bottles stocked up. Love it!

I was instructed by my dentist and dental hygientist to purchase Hibiclens for use in my WaterPik. I have battled periodontial diease for years, and therefore I was instructed to use eight drops in my WaterPik well daily. Yes, it was strongly suggested that I be sure not to swallow. My dentiist also uses it in his practice. Recently I've developed a strange odor under one armpit that is hard to control, so experimenting, I tried using Hibiclens every few days with great results. I will address the issue on my next doctor visit as I am concerned about over use.

I bought this product to help control / limit acne. If I only knew that I would have a long and hard battle with MRSA just weeks after I purchased it. Doctors prescribed many drugs, ointments, washes, etc. to help me control the infection, but Hibiclens was and is my favorite. Now I use it as a preventative measure. Best not to over use if not infected and are not in the medical field. Follow directions and it will work. I only commented negatively about it being "messy" because if you do not rinse spots in the shower or tub or glass while its still fresh, you will find yourself scrubbing endless amounts that harden and stick once dried. But it is by no means a reason not to use it. Just suggesting to clean up shower / sink after use to avoid frustration later. Still keep this product in my medicine cabinet and my MRSA is finally gone (with the help of 2 surgeries). But the Hibicleans was the one product through it all that I felt was giving me the fighting chance I needed.

Skin wound and general skin cleansing: Wounds which involve more than the superficial layers of the skin should not be routinely treated with Hibiclens. Hibiclens should not be used for repeated general skin cleansing of large body areas except in those patients whose underlying condition makes it necessary to reduce the bacterial population of the skin. To use, thoroughly rinse the area to be cleansed with water. Apply the minimum amount of Hibiclens necessary to cover the skin or wound area and wash gently. Rinse again thoroughly.
Surgical hand scrub: Wet hands and forearms with water. Scrub for 3 minutes with about 5ml of Hibiclens and a wet brush, paying particular attention to the nails, cuticles and interdigital spaces. A separate nail cleaner may be used. Rinse thoroughly. Wash for an additional 3 minutes with 5ml of Hibiclens and rinse under running water. Dry thoroughly.
Personnel hand wash: Wet hands with water. Dispense about 5ml of Hibiclens into cupped hands and wash in a vigorous manner for 15 seconds. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Preoperative skin preparation: Apply Hibiclens liberally to surgical site and swab for at least 2 minutes. Dry with a sterile towel. Repeat procedure for an additional 2 minutes and dry with a sterile towel.
