When using this product

For every 5 pounds you lose from diet alone, orlistat can help you lose 2-3 pounds more. In studies, most people lost 5-10 pounds over 6 months.

Stop use and ask a doctor if

Severe or continuous abdominal pain occurs. This may be a sign of a serious medical condition.

If pregnant or breast-feeding, do not use.

Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

I first took Alli when it came out. Followed a low fat diet plan as recommended and lost some weight (maybe 5 lbs) but not much. I think your body needs some fat in order to lose weight. I later joined a local diet center and stopped Alli. I ate their food and lost 25 lbs in 8 weeks. I now find that going back to regular food, there are so many hidden fats, so I use Alli when I eat something with a little more fat than I would like to consume and I am glad to say I have not gained back any weight! Now you can't go overboard with fats or you will suffer the lovely side effects that everyone refers to. But you can cheat on your diet occasionally without gaining weight. And the good thing is that since it only works in your stomach, I can take it only on the days when I need it. You'll would be surprised to see how much fat is actually in what you think is a healthy choice (i.e. a broiled piece of fish or chicken) when you eat out!

I use it when eating something I think is fatty. I found out I do have a very fatty diet which is unhealthy. It works pretty fast - but when you have to go you have to go so not good for any days you are not right near a place to go. Also, follow the directions...I accidently took 4 in one day and it caused me a great deal of pain for a t least an hour and my stomach was pretty sore for awhile. But I have slimmed down a bit.

I am 21 years old and I am overweight. For years I have been through hell and back with my weight. I would have to literally starve myself in order to loose weight so I decided to try Alli. I have to admit the side effects are gross. It can be a bit embarrasing, but you have to watch what you eat and excercise otherwise it WON'T work. You can't expect the pill alone to take off pounds of fat you've put on over the years miraculously!!! I have been taking Alli for 3 weeks now and I am loving the results...I lost 11 pounds with the pill alone and excercise 3 times a week. I can enjoy a good meal once in a while without worrying about the fat. You should definetely try it and if it didn't work for you, then you definetely did something wrong!

I did lose weight with this product, but developed stomach problems -- pain, indigestion, acid trouble -- after I started using it daily for a month. Prior to Alli, I never had a hint of stomach trouble. It does help weight loss, but the combined stomach pain and orange "leakage" makes it less than desirable for daily use.

I'm still undecided on this product based on the reviews (either 1 star or 5 - few in between) but here's my experience. I used it for 3 weeks at the same time I cut back on fat and calories. I lost a couple of pounds a week - same as I would have if I hadn't taken Alli at all. First couple of days are rougher than usual but tolerable as far as side effects. I was willing to deal with unpleasantness if it'd boost my diet efforts, I mean, 50% more weight loss is a great motivator. It didn't seem to help at all. I lost what I would've lost with reduced calories and exercise. I'm 5'8" and 300lbs. Perhaps it works best for people only needing to lose less than 50 or so. I regretted buying Alli and would not recommend it.

I would give this product more stars for weight loss, because it DOES indeed help drop the pounds. I easily dropped 10 pounds within a few short weeks after starting Alli. However, I am planning to ask my doctor if it's really meant for extended use. After three months of taking Alli after every meal, I suddenly began to develop stomach problems -- for the first time in my life. I am not sure if there is a connection, but I stopped taking the Alli, and noticed my stomach problem disappeared within a week after discontinuing it.

After reading the positive reviews I decide to give it a try... Oh my gosh, this thing is terrible!!! Besides the "oily accidents" even if you don't eat a lot of fat, I felt upset stomach and vomited a lot one day, so decided to put in the garbage. So this thing is in my opinion dangerous and we don't know the real effects to your health... psychologically you feel depressed with the accidents and afraid to go out; a small fart can become a big embarrassment. I have 10 pounds to lose, so I'll go only with diet and exercise.

This medication will tell you in tangible terms whether or not you are on the right track with how and what you eat. Make no mistake, the results of eating a salad with too much olive oil will be painful, but that may be the kind of stimulus to keep one on the right track. Some may find this helpful, I know I did. Also, if one generally eats a low-fat diet, Alli will be of no use, as there is no fat to expel; it seems to be a very helpful tool to use while re-learning how to eat healthily.

I started using this the middle of June of last year (2007) and to date I have lost 82 pounds and am hoping to hit that 90 pounds loss on my anniversary date (June 13). I still have 40 or so pounds to lose and even if it takes another year I will continue to use alli. I have cheated and had accidents, but basically taking alli keeps me in check with watching my fat intake and calories. I don't take it with meals that are low in fat only the ones that have enough that I feel I need the help and I have no bad side effects at all and I have no gall bladder. I think the whole idea behind alli is that it helps you if you want it to. It does what its supposed to do and if you don't use it the right way you will have the side effects. I love my little helper. Heck a year ago I weighed 300 pounds and now I am down to 218. That is a huge accomplishment. Try it.

I used Alli for six months straight. I didn't lose a pound. In fact, I lost weight after I stopped taking it. I suffered the oily side effects as well. THE BEST PRODUCT FOR WEIGHT LOSS EVER!!! After years of trying, I was able to lose about 25 pounds in 4 months. My best advice is to start this on a Friday night and don't plan on leaving the house too much that weekend until you know how this drug affects you. Most people have an 'accident' in the beginning 2 days but afterwards you will know exactly what foods trigger it, what to avoid (there isn't much), etc. I pretty much eat anything I want and have kept the weight off for over 6 months. You'll soon figure out how to control the side effects. If you are going out to eat, don't take the drug before but take it immediately when you get home. The effect is the same. I can't recommend this product enough- if they ever quit making it I would buy cases of it.

I highly recommend this product. I have been fortunate and not suffered ANY of the ill side effects that I read about and was fearful of having. However, I am doing this with weight watchers and NOT cheating at all. What I have found is that I am so afraid of the horrible side effects it is keeping me from cheating. I have lost 6 lbs in the last three weeks and I feel great. Although, the weight loss is not super fast, it is steady. Much steadier than weight watchers alone. Happy customer here.

Horrible! No weight loss, oily stools, it was just gross. Almost immediately after I had to see a doctor for a gallbladder disorder and I wonder to this day if there was a connection. I decided to forego the "secret weapon" and just eat a little less, move more, and voila, I lost the weight. Skip the expensive pills, people, and just aim for health and nutrition.
