This is the most effective lotion I've found for dry skin in our desert climate. This was recommended to me by the Skin Cancer & Dermatology Center. It's difficult to find here. Costco used to be the only place I could find it, so I'm excited to find it on the drugstore.com website!

This is the best lotion I have ever used. I am a nurse and I wash my hands a lot. It is one of the few products the keeps my hands from chapping and seems to stay on in between washings. I recommend this to anyone with a problem with dry skin.

The company says this product is #1 recommended moisturizer by Dermatologists & Podiatrists, and I believe it. AmLactin smoothed my rough heels, and the bumpy skin patches caused by keratosis pilaris. It has also been an excellent hand moisturizer for me. It prevents the flaking and cracking if I use it everyday. Worked much better for me than Eucerin, Lubriderm and others. A little goes a long way so it's an excellent value

I too use this for bumps on my upper arms. It works great when I can bring myself to use it regularly. But it smells horrible (I tried adding a few drops of lavender essential oil to the bottle; it helped a little, but not much). It is also very greasy feeling and takes a long time to fully absorb. Lac-Hydrin 5 seems to work not quite as well, but with slightly less offensive scent and slightly less greasiness. It's kind of a no-win situation. I have found that exfoliating like crazy helps me be able to use this less often - I alternate days using this lotion or using a pumice scrub on my bumpy arms in the shower (don't do both, AmLactin stings like crazy if applied right after a serious exfoliating)

This is the only thing that has taken care of the bumps on my upper arms. The instructions call for twice-daily usage, but I use it once every day or two. A little goes a long way. Some have commented on the smell, but honestly I have not noticed any perceptible scent at all. Looking forward to some sleeveless shirts this summer, whoo hoo!!!

I purchased this to help with the Keratosis Pilaris on my upper arms. It was okay, but Lac-hydrin Five works much better. Would recommend that over AmLactin.

Aside from the smell, this stuff is great. It works great on KP (keratosis pilaris), otherwise known as those little red bumps on the back of your arms, or in my case, thighs. This really smooths my skin out...but like the other user said...if I stop using it, they come back in a few weeks. Great product, just wished it smelled a bit better.

Along with LacHydrin 12, this is the best moisturizer I have ever used. My skin is hydrated, even toned and exceptionally soft. My stretch marks are less visible and the skin on my knees, elbows and buttocks is no longer dark, rough and discolored. My skin just glows. For someone who grew up with ugly dry skin, I now get non-stop compliments. This is a fabulous product, especially for ethnic skin. The cream version is even better.

This is the only product that has worked for the KP on my arms and thighs. With consistent use, the little red bumps disappeared. I've had this condition since childhood and Amlactin is the only product that has worked for me. I'm really happy that finally, I, too, could have smooth skin on my arms. Although, once stopped, the bumps will return.

I have really dry skin throughout the year, and have tried many, many different brands of lotion and this one didn't work for me. I had to keep reapplying.

This is great lotion. Took care of the little red bumps on my arms in about a week. Much less greasy than the Eucerin I was using, and much more affordable than the KP Duty lotion made specially for keratosis pilaris. Highly recommend!

The other lotions are worthless compared to this one. Great for my xerosis, medical term for dry skin. I wish it came scented though, and I wish it came in a heavier cream for when I want that feel.

I have Ichthyosis and previously only had LacHydrin available for treatment. AmLactin now being available has saved me a lot of time and money not filling prescriptions. I love it! If you want to use it for a body lotion I suggest just adding a quarter size amount of your favorite scented lotion to mask the scent (or actually the lack of).

by Amber P[Verified Reviewer] in Merkel, TX on 12/15/05
I have had a problem with severely dry skin during the winter for many years. The skin on my hands, feet, and legs cracks, bleeds -- and looks and feels terrible. Previously, while in the hospital I was prescribed some type of Eucerin, which did not help. I tried all kinds of lotions and treatments with minimal relief. Just a couple of weeks ago, my current physician saw my hands and recommended I try AmLactin. Within 3 days, I saw a huge difference. My hands, feet, arms, and legs feel so much better. The deep cracks have closed up and are healing. I have extremely sensitive skin, and this does not give me hives. It doesn't seem to be perfumed, so it would be fine for a man or a woman. I wish I'd have found this long ago!
