Softens As It Cleanses

  • Non-Comedogenic

CETAPHIL® cleanser was formulated for dermatologists as a gentle, non-irritating cleanser for even the most sensitive skin. Unlike soap, CETAPHIL is completely non-alkaline, non-comedogenic, and fragrance free.  Soothes and softens as it cleanses, helping the skin retain needed moisture. Use for face, hands, and the entire body. Also an excellent cleanser for the delicate skin of babies.

16 fl oz. (473ml)

Directions

CETAPHIL cleanser is easy to use:

  • Without Water: Apply a liberal amount to the skin and rub gently. The unique, low lathering formula allows gentle, yet thorough cleansing. Remove excess with a soft cloth, leaving a thin film of CETAPHIL on the skin. The emollient quality will leave the skin soft and moist.
  • With Water: Apply to the skin and rub gently. Rinse.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 185 customer reviews.Gentle

Pros: Refreshing
Best Uses: All Skin Types, Daily Use
Bottom Line: recommended
The cleanser is so gentle I can't tell if it's really doing anything. But I sure it is because I don't really get bad breakouts anymore and the pimples on top of my forehead went away. I bought it at [...]with a coupon (2 20oz for [$]). I like using it on my neck and sometimes my body. I'll be using it for a long time.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser rates 1 out of 5 stars, from 185 customer reviews. The new formula stinks......
by Dawn[Verified Reviewer] in FL on 7/1/08
Cons: Dries Out Skin, Irritates Skin, Strong Odor
Bottom Line: not recommended
I have used this cleanser for years and loved it - until now. It does appear (as another pointed out)that the formula changed when the packaging did. This cleanser now has a strong smell, dries out my skin and causes irritation. I would not purchase this product again.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser rates 1 out of 5 stars, from 185 customer reviews.Won't help keep your skin clear
by John[Verified Reviewer] in Miami,FL on 6/23/08
Pros: Gentle
Cons: Doesn't remove dead skin, Ineffective
Describe Yourself: Quality Oriented
Bottom Line: not recommended
This product does not help in removing and cleaning dead skin from pores. After using this product for months, my skin became dull and lifeless. I think the people who like this product might be older customers who's skin doesn't have a high skin cell turnover rate . If your a young person with problem skin you need something that will help clean up and dissolve the dead skin and excess oil. I don't reccommend As far as being dermatologist recommended , im now convinced it's because it's a safe pick for dermatologist to go with. Because it's very gentle and won't burn any one's face off.

I absolutely love all Cetaphil products. My skin has been a problem my whole life- dry, sensitive acne skin on my face, very dry, itchy eczema all over my body. Products marketed as "For Eczema" only made the problem worse, as did acne products. Switching over completely to Cetaphil for facial and body cleansers and moisturizers- plus prescription medications has made a world of improvement. I'm so much more comfortable in my own skin now! And I love that they have no scent to irritate and clash with my perfume!

Well I've been using this product for at least a week & it seems ok. My mom bought it from and also got the moisturizer. The product is definitely pricey, and BECAUSE of the high price we feel that is should work. To be honest with you, I still have breakouts on my face (and it's making me miserable) but I guess with skin care products it takes time for it to heal blemishes, so Im basically going to have to keep using it for AWHILE (because my mom paid so much money for it). It does dry out my pimples (which is good) but I have tons of black "spots" on my face from when my older pimples disappeared (which isn't too good) it's an ok cleanser, I guess I have to keep using it for my mom's benefit because of the money she spent on it.

This is the only cleanser I use. This product is great for acne, does not irritate your skin, and is also great at removing eye makeup. I use it at night before bed and also in the shower in the morning.

I agree with a previous review, it was not worth the money. I have sensitive mild acne and this cleanser made break out worse and it leaves a film on skin after washing. Just didnt feel clean. Save your money!!

I was using Neutrogena gentle cleanser and my skin was a nightmare. Dry, flaky, red skin was driving me insane, until I stumbled upon this amazing product. I use it for my entire body and I have never been so soft. I currently have the older version of Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser: Im scared that the new ones will be different.

After using a retinoid product in very dry cold weather -- to the point of having very red, peeling, very sore, irritated facial skin-- I remembered my Dermatologist recommending Cetaphil after dermabrasion treatments or mini-laser treatments. I tried it and have used it every evening since with great results. It doesn't sting your eyes while removing eye makeup and doesn't even have to be washed off or used with water. It is not for acne treatment but doesn't seem to exacerbate any breakouts either. My son used it consistently while on Accutane therapy several years ago and continues to use the Cetaphil brand of moisturizer as well.

My skin is very dry and sensitive. I used this product for many years as a morning cleanser. Now it seems drying and irritating. I've switched to Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser am and pm and my skin feels better.

by lamson[Verified Reviewer] in antioch, TN on 3/26/08
This cleanser sucks. On oily skin it leaves too much oil behind. For those who have skin that is better, a bit dry than really moist, I would not recommend this product. Plus, it has sodium lauryl sulfate which is irritating and not good for eczema prone skin.

by Lena[Verified Reviewer] in Peoria, IL on 3/12/08
This is a nice, gentle cleanser and works well for that purpose. I've heard many people say their dermatologists recommend this. However, I was recommended this for my problem skin (28 years old, prone to acne, oily) and for that purpose it did not do a thing. My skin did not clear up or break out more - it just simply did not affect my skin problems one way or the other. It was okay but I've found that Noxzemas Deep Cleansing Cream (original/no scent) works better and feels just a gentle on my sensitive skin.

by LISA[Verified Reviewer] in LANSING, MI on 3/10/08
I never realized how much moisture I was taking away from my skin until using this product! I absolutely love the way my skin feels after using it, and it even works well for removing eye makeup. My favorite thing about this product is that it has actually decreased the appearance of small wrinkles under my eyes, almost eliminating my need for eye cream at night. Unfortunately, though, my skin is not only sensitive but also oily, and this product is doing little to nothing for my acne. Nonetheless, everyone I know loves this product and I can see why!
