This is the best over the counter acne control face wash I've found. The active ingredient is the most effective you can get. Only drawback is that it's somewhat drying if used twice a day. I use once daily in the AM, along with a salicylic acid containing cleanser at night, and always use moisturizer afterwards.

This is one of the few budget acne washes with benzol peroxide as the main active ingredient, which I find more effective than the more common salycilic acid. I use it as a mask in the shower, letting it sit on my skin for a minute or two before rinsing off. It leaves a tingly-clean feeling. This may be too strong for sensitive skin and I would not use it for makeup removal, but it does a great job keeping my skin from breaking out!

I used Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Cleanser (not to be confused with this product) with the matching lotion for years, and was happy with it. But then my local drug store stopped carrying it and I could not find the packaging I was use to anywhere. I was forced to try this product, but personally, I don't like it. It was not too harsh for me, however it was toooo creamy (this is why I also never like Noxzema). I didn't like the feeling of washing my face with lotion. There was not enough soap sud to make me feel like I was really cleaning my face. I have looked around on drgstore.com and found a foam version of the C&C Advantage wash; I am hoping that this is my old cleanser in a different package, and in foam instead if the liquid gel that I was use to.

I finally joined Drugstore.com because I would really like to put something in perspective. I saw so many one-star reviews for this product that all said the same thing: it bleached their towels, it dried their skin like no other. Listen here, this acne cleanser has 10% BENZOYL PEROXIDE in it. Of COURSE it's going to bleach your towels if you're not careful - benzoyl peroxide is a bleacher. And here's the big part, my response to the dry skin and blah blah. Before buying this product you really need to CONSIDER: 1. have I ever used benzoyl peroxide before? (This cleanser contains 10%, which is the highest concentration of BP you can have!! Of COURSE your skin is going to freak out if it has never been exposed to BP!! It's like a culture shock for your skin!) 2. since 10% benzoyl peroxide is so strong, am I sure that I want to resort to using something so strong on my skin? If you're in your teens and have tried a few cleansers in your life, maybe with salicylic acid or something in them, and they worked "okay" but you want something WOW, don't use this YET! Try more things..this may be way too strong for your mild acne. I'm young, but I've dealt with acne for five years now. In those five years I've had bad scarring, extremely stubborn blackheads, pimples that take weeks to clear out, etc. I can't classify my acne as "severe" but it is bad. For about a year I used a 10% benzoyl peroxide spot treatment. The first day I bought it I put a little bit on, and no result. The next day I smothered it on, and I was extremely pleased with the results. I did this for quite a while and my skin was used to the benzoyl peroxide. Then I found this, and I am amazed. It seriously worked wonders, I noticed a visible difference within hours of using it. My main point is, KNOW your skin. Put some benzoyl peroxide on it first and see how it reacts. Use this cleanser, or another cleanser with 10% BP as a last resort after you're fed up with trying tons and tons of cleansers that don't seem to work for you. Ask yourself whether you really need this strong cleanser or not. Oh and wear a bit of moisturizer after using it.

I have tried many OTC acne products since I was about 10 years old, and this is the first one that completely clears my skin! I use it towards the beginning of my shower to allow my face time to dry, which is probably why it has NOT bleached ANY of my towels. It does tend to dry my face a tiny bit, which I don't really mind. If you stretch your face muscles (good exercise, btw) after using it, the tightness goes away. Also, it's not expensive like systems such as proactiv, so that's another plus.

Before I started using this wash, I mostly had small, superficial pimples around my chin area. Now, I was cystic acne on my right cheek and chin. Also, I have small, skin-solored bumps all over my face. I think I reacted badly to the mineral oil in this. Needless to say, I will not be buying this again and will be looking for something oil-free.

Ew! I hate this product! Here's why: 1. When I first tried it, I thought, "Wow, so creamy!" the stuff is creamy, and made me think that it would be at least somewhat gentle on my skin. NO, it is NOT gentle on your skin! In just one use, my skin went from moisturized muffin to desert dry dump! (I DON'T have dry or sensitive skin, I DO have normal skin.) 2. This bleaches fabric like nobody's business! Yes, if you want an excuse for new towels, even shirts, or anything- this'll help you get new towels, yay, a new expense to bear! I suggest, if you do love this, which I DO NOT, then use this in the shower. 3. After using it just three times, my face ached so bad I couldn't move my facial muscles at all without extraordinary pain! This sucks, in plain words! This did nothing for my acne, NOTHING! This is not for you if you have sensitive or normally dry skin! I couldn't talk with this product, and there was dead skin even right under my eyes and below my eyebrows! This is how drying the product was for me, and I have normal skin!

i could not figure out why my son's blue towels were getting bleached, so i starting eliminating things he was using. Finally i got to the culprit, but only after I bought brand new towels. This stuff ruined the old set of towels and now it has ruined the new set, even the bath mat. SCARY, i don't want my child putting this stuff on his face ever again!

I am absolutely disgusted with this product. I was using it maybe four times a week at night and didn't seem to have problems. Then one night I put it one and began to feel a burning sensation within a few seconds. I washed it off and my face was red and hot. I stopped using it and read the back, recommending you should only use it 2-3 times a week. Then I began to break out, and started up again. After use one night the my face was raw, red and blistery. I have been moisturizing for about four days now and the pain is intense. It's made my face SWOLLEN, TENDER, and RASH-LIKE. This product is way to strong for a persons skin its like putting acid on your face, don't get it. Way to go Clean & Clear.
