Ok, I'm a believer. I've been fighting a sinus headache for weeks!! I tried Mucinex only because I figured my body had had enough decongestants and antihistamines. I was not even aware of having a lot of congestion (other than a constant post-nasal drip). I took one dose while in the grocery store and within an hour, my headache was easier. Today, it's gone! I took another Mucinex this morning with LOTS of water. I'm not aware of tons of mucus -- not having to blow my nose. But I can tell that the postnasal drip is definitely thinner and I'm clearing my throat more. Who knew? This is great!

I have COPD and have been prescribed Advair and Albuterol for relieve. Advair helps, but after using it for some time, the side effects are of concern. A month ago, when I was somewhat congested, I decided to take a Mucinex pill and swallowed it with a full glass of water. The results were better than expected. Besides loosening and getting rid of the mucus, I also found it easier to breathe. In addition, I did not feel having to use Advair or Albuterol for relieve, not even the following day without taking Mucinex. At the present, I occasionally take one Mucinex and don't use my other medication at all. I feel that my prior medication has helped me a lot however, trying Mucinex for relieve even when I am not congested, has done better. Maybe only time will tell. One thing for sure, its a lot more economic.

This is the BEST to clear out congestion and prevent infections. I am a Kindergarten teacher and had my usual 8 day cold that leads to ear and sinus infection-requiring antibiotics. I quickly bought Mucinex (with/LOTS of water) and Cold-Eeze every 2 hours, and I feel better by the 2nd day.** The first day is Rough because you are constantly blowing your nose, but the you are getting the infection out!!**

Mucinex works wonders on thinning secretions and also for relieving coughs. My ENT also suggested I take it daily since I have Sjogrens Syndrome, a medical condition which dries out all the mucus membranes. Mucinex has made me feel so much better. I also suffer from Fibromyalgia, and as an extra bonus, Mucinex works wonders on eliminating fibromyalgia symptoms! Although Mucinex is not advertised as a drug to relieve symptoms of fibromyalgia, rumors have swirled that it works wonders on eliminating fibromyalgia symptoms. I must admit, it does work extremely well on eliminating aching, tender sore spots in muscles. Again, Mucinex is NOT advertised for fibromyalgia relief, but I am convinced 100% that it has improved my fibromyalgia by about 90%.

I rely on this during fall and winter to keep me from getting stuffed up. It thins mucus and makes it easier for me to breathe. The round tablet is large and can be difficult to swallow, especially when you are dry or already congested with mucus.

I have been relying on Mucinex for expectorant relief since I first discovered it. My biggest complaint is the shape and the size of the blue tablet. Mucinex in this form is one of the very few tablets that I have trouble swallowing. It is too big. It is too big to stick in my throat even when I cut it in half. Wouldn't a caplet with some smooth exterior layer serve clients better?

When Mucinex became an over the counter item, my ENT suggested I keep taking every day, since I have asthma and chronic bronchial issues. I have never been as healthy in my life. I thank everyone who has kept this drug on the market. Editor's note: doctor's recommendation is based on customer experience, and has not been independently verified by the drugstore.com website.

Have seen the commercials for the product. Friends of mine said their children raved about Mucinex. Having chronic sinusitis- I tried it and I can't believe how I have gotten rid of extreme amounts of phlegm. This product worked for me in 2 days. I would recommend to anyone with sinus/bronchial congestion. Better than antibiotics that only dry you up, this stuff gets it out of your body!!

I was miserable for two days with bad sinus congestion, and on the third day, the stuff started to move to my chest. I took the dose as recommended, and could not believe what a difference it made. After the first day everything started to break up, and after two days, I felt great! I highly recommend this medicine.

A TOTAL waste of money, this product made my chest and sinus congestion much worse. I couldn't take anything else for the entire 12 hours till it was out of my system, because the pharmacist warned against mixing it with any other drug. After the most miserable 12 hours of my cold, I finally was able to take an Actifed, and felt much better. I can't believe they charge so much for this stuff.

by Sheryl C[Verified Reviewer] in Charleston, SC on 1/29/06
I suffer from allergic rhinitis and sinusitis. For me this product is a godsend. I keep it on hand at all times and don't know what I would do without it. Before it was available OTC in this form, I purchased it in liquid form (liquid costs more, tastes bad, less convenient, not time release). I've been using it for a decade. It helps to ease the sinus pain and pressure so that I can usually get by without taking decongestants (which interfere with my sleep, raise my heart rate and blood pressure, etc). MOST IMPORTANT for me - Mucinex thins post nasal secretions (phlegm); this minimizes throat soreness and that uncomfortable feeling of having a "lump" in throat. It is important to note that in order to "thin" secretions, this product needs to get fluids from somewhere; therefore, you should be careful to always take it with a full glass of water (as stated on the package).
