Mosquitoes transmit diseases such as Equine Encephalitis, West Nile Virus and other diseases.  When they bite an animal or bird infected with a disease, they go to lay eggs and come back to bite again.  It is this second bite that transmits diseases.  The OakStump Mosquito Trap attracts, catches and kills mosquitoes when they try to lay eggs, thus preventing that second "fatal" bite.

OakStump Secret:

Our trap uses a mosquito egg pheromone which mosquitoes use to mark special egg-laying places.  This "locator" biochemical draws those mosquitoes responsible for transmitting diseases like Encephalitis and West Nile Virus.  Mosquitoes drawn into the trap to lay eggs cannot find the exit and will eventually tire and down in the liquid.

OakStump® Farms

Add 1 quart (4 cups) warm water and mix in packet of swamp vegetation.  Open Mosquito Egg Pheromone packet and place lure in the center of the plastic tube.  Do not touch lure with bare hands.  Use gloves or tweezers.  Place trap on ground away from pets and children where it cannot get knocked over.  Leave trap undisturbed.  Check once or twice a week to ensure adequate water remains in the trap.  Use all season long, starting as soon as daytime temperatures exceed 50 degrees.  Traps placed early in the year will produce lower summer mosquito populations.  Use at least 2 to 4 traps per average yard, and 4 to 16 traps per acre, depending on the closeness of swampy areas, mosquito intensity and temperatures.  Replace Mosquito Egg Pheromone and vegetation every 4 to 6 weeks.  Rinse traps, but do not wash traps with soap as accumulated attractants will be washed away.
