Comments about Rainbow Light Certified Organic Prenatal Multivitamin, Vegetarian Capsules, 120 ea:

I like this food-based prenatal with dosage throughout the day rather than one big dose in the morning. With my fast metabolism, I'd never make use of a one-a-day. The greens also lifted my energy - much needed during the first tri!

I was concerned about the calcium comment, so I talked with my local natural foods store. She said that this vitamin is food-based so while Calcium is not specifically listed, it is delivered through the concentrated food in the pill like kale, broccoli, etc. She also said that Rainbow Light is "to the letter" on reporting ingredients so they would not break down all the food-based nutrients contained in the pill. She said to consider the vitamin list with the food list to get a complete picture of nutritional value.

Comments about Rainbow Light Certified Organic Prenatal Multivitamin, Vegetarian Capsules, 120 ea:

I had been taking Rainbow Light Prenatal One Multivitamin, Tablets from the start of my pregnancy. I was running out so planned to order them again from Drugstore.com, only they no longer had them as an option for purchase at the time. Instead they were offering Rainbow Light Certified Organic Prenatal Multivitamin, Vegetarian Capsules. I do prefer organic products when possible, so I didn't think anything of it and just ordered them. When they came I was excited as they are MUCH easier to swallow in a smooth capsule, not a hard and heavy pill like the original I had started with. My husband was actually the one to point out that its new form made him feel like the formulation could be completely different. He was right! I'd been taking them for a couple of MONTHS before I suddenly realized there is ABSOLUTELY NO CALCIUM in this supplement!!

I ended up buying a calcium supplement to take in addition to this prenatal until I finish the bottle. I will give it some credit - it has more folic acid (1000mg v 800mg) and Vitamin D (800mg v 400mg) than the former, but also nearly half as much Iron (18mg v 30mg). I just wish that I had thought to check these values, and that it would have suggested taking it in conjunction with one of their calcium supplements on the label for a complete prenatal nutritional supplement.
