I purchased this after my most recent haircut under the advisement of the stylist, a woman I'd never gone to before. I was given punkish chunky layers where they're longer at the front, and I've never been a fan of them. She told me with my thick hair the layers would just fall flat and look boring, so this Redken paste was suggested, and I absolutely love it! It makes my new haircut tolerable by holding them and making them look frisky and sassy!

I have been using Rough Paste for about three years now. I can't imagine using anything else. I use it to give my hair a piece-y look to avoid that horrible molded, helmet-head look. My stylist first used it on my hair after a cut one day and I really liked the look of it, purchased it on my own, and have used it ever since. Yes, it's expensive, but a little does go a long way.

As a point of reference, my hair is straight, baby-fine but plentiful, and I use a flat iron but use it to give the ends a bend to them so the end result is a style that's not stick straight but not curly either. Then I sort of finger-comb my hair, put a small amount of Rough Paste on my finger tips, rub them together, and sort of pull pieces of hair around where I want them. Love it!

I just started using this product upon recommendation by my hair stylist. I had been using Redken 03 and found that it weighed down my hair and made it feel greasy. I have thick hair that is hard to style. The Redken 12 worked very well. It helps give body and more definition without giving you that greasy, heavy feeling of other pomades, mousses and so forth. It took a couple of tries to learn to work with it well as it is kind of sticky. However, overall it is great and I recommend it.

I have hair that's as straight as a board and it DOES NOT hold curl well. In humidity forget styling, it's pointless.I need to use three products just to hold my hair in place.

But this product holds my curl as well as the Rough Clay (Paste replaced Clay). The advantage of the product is that placing it in my hair is easier. Clay was a little harsh on the scalp because of it's thick, stiff consistency and ability to hold hair. It was difficult to work through the hair. The paste is thinner and works through the hair easier. The only thing I don't like is the aroma. The odor from the product smells a bit too masculine for my taste, but my hairspray covers that up. I wasn't kidding when I said my hair was straight. Even as good as the Paste is, I still need extra coverage for humid days.

I have fine hair, and just a little bit of this really helps give it body and texture. Just don't use too much as then it looks greasy.

This product is excellent for adding texture and volume to thin hair. It allows me to place hair exactly where I want it and it stays there. Although a little sticky to work with, it does the job. It also lasts a very long time because a little goes a long way.

My hairstylist first suggested this for me. It is amazing, but use sparingly. Using too much will weigh down your hair. I have very fine, wavy, somewhat curly short hair and this 'stuff' is the best I've ever used to add control and volume without stiffness.

Put a small amount in palm, rub together and through fingers and then carefully through hair sort of tossing it. After some practice using too much, I found the perfect amount. I can't say enough about this product. Love it!!!!
