Comments about Redmond Earthpaste Amazingly Natural Toothpaste, Peppermint, 4 oz:

I put this tube in the downstairs bathroom for those quick brushes before heading out the door. LOVE IT! I cannot use toothpaste with Sodium Laurel Sulfate in it as it makes my tongue sore, so I have been using "alternative" toothpaste for years. I love this one, Uncle Harry's Tooth Powder, and OraWellness. The advantage of this one is its price & easy usability. The taste is fine.

        Fluoride/SLS/Saccharin-free, winner?

Comments about Redmond Earthpaste Amazingly Natural Toothpaste, Peppermint, 4 oz:

For me, having sensitive skin translates to mouth problems with standard toothpastes. I've found switching to a "natural" product gives the cracked corners of my mouth a chance to heal. This product serves this purpose well but misses on a couple aspects to become my favorite toothpaste.

The big positive for me -- besides the lack of Fluoride, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and Saccharin – is the flavor. The peppermint taste is really nice. Very clean and refreshing, I think it's the tea tree listed on the ingredients that give it an extra little kick. The salt in the ingredients had me skeptical. I notice a faint taste of salt but it's not strong or unpleasant (I do not like the salty taste of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda toothpastes).

Somewhat a negative for me is the consistency. It's really different than any other toothpaste I've tried. Very hard to describe, but compared to other products I would say it's more chalky, less elastic, and not a thick, dense, cream that's easy to apply to a brush. It comes out of the tube irregularly, often shooting past or to the side of my brush head. My application skills have improved over the weeks but getting it on the bristles still requires a little effort. I guess the reason for the different texture is the lack of Glycerin and maybe the Titanium Dioxide. I'm not convinced avoiding the alleged harm these can cause are worth the trade-off.

The big negative for me is the color, and the product's inability to whiten. Okay, I'm vain! But I'm also a wuss when it comes to using whitening strips and gels so I really like toothpaste with a little whitening quality where I can get a little help but not suffer the sensitivity strips give me. I've noticed my teeth are more dingy since using this and I feel the brownish color of this product might be the reason why. From years of pottery classes, I know the minerals in clay can stain. I would hope the makers of this product took this into consideration and used a white clay in the formula but that doesn't appear to be the case. At the very least, the brown hue continues to startle me when I see the color of the spit in the sink.

So overall, if white teeth aren't a concern for you, I recommend for the great flavor and lack of harmful ingredients.

I didn't like this product at the beginning because it doesn't have any foam when you brush your teeth. I like the taste/ flavor, however and starting to get use to the texture.

I was a bit apprehensive after reading the ingredients. Clay? I thought it would be abrasive, but it's not. And it's got a refreshing, non-overpowering taste. Feels like a regular toothpaste. The wholesome ingredients make you feel good as well.
