since childhood, i've suffered cold sores, and the humiliation and pain thereof. if you take lysine tablets daily, you can build a slight resistance (though my dermatologist says that isn't even medically proven), but if you're in a stressy/sunny/blistery spot and feel one coming on, this stuff can actually even hold one off. if you have a blister already, applying this (many times a day) will greatly squelch its persistence. it's not perfect, it's a weird color, it's very runny, it's spendy - but it actually works...WAY better than abreva, which prior to releev, is the only thing i'd found that helped at all. give this a go.

I have suffered from cold sores my whole life & have tried everything, this stuff by far works the best than anything that I've tried! For my last outbreak a few days ago I applied this within an hour of noticing symptoms & noticed improvement within mintutes, it took away the redness,tingling & burning, the only thing that remained was a small bump that lasted a few days but wasn't noticable. I only applied the product for 2 days, I hope it works this well for every outbreak! That is why I only gave it 4 stars because I've only used it once so my only concern would be that it might not work that well every time or for severe outbreaks.

My daughter told me about Releev a few years ago. We both get cold sores. Now I don't go anywhere without it. It's in my pocket right now. If I feel an itch on my lip I put it right away and can usually keep it down to no sore or a small one.If you catch it right away you will have success. Better than other creams I have tried. It's easy to apply. Just rub a small drop on. I won't run off, rubs right in and you can use lipstick or lip balm right over it.
A neighbor of mine tried it and he is now hooked too. Thank you for making this product. Please don't take it off the shelf.

I started get cold sores occasionally about eight years ago thanks to my ex. When I first started getting them I tried Abreva and Herpecin and a few other over the counter things that didn't work. After doing research online I read about Releev and it worked great for me. I just bought a new bottle the other day because my old one had expired and new package had a Releev lip balm included that was very nice.
My outbreaks are not very big, generally the size of a dime to a nickel, and they have only been on the skin surrounding my lower lip. I don't know how it might work for people with larger outbreaks or one directly on the lips but I would definitely recommend trying it. It's also nice that it's a liquid and not a cream so it dries fairly clear. If I feel a core sore coming on and use it right away it will even stop the outbreak from happening most times.

I am REALLY prone to getting cold sores - when I have a cold, when I'm in the sun, when my lips get too dry, when I'm stressed, when my hormones fluctuate - you name it, it gives me a cold sore.

I've tried both pill and cream prescriptions, and unfortunately neither work for me. This stuff is the only treatment I've found that has any positive effect on treating my cold sores.

I apply at the first sign of tingly/itchy lip, and that usually stops the cold sore from coming. During high-stress times or when I'm sick, I apply a thin layer every night as a preventive measure, let it dry fully, and then put a non-petroleum/non-peppermint lip balm on my lips to keep them moisturized overnight. This usually works to prevent a cold sore, but if it doesn't, I'm diligent about applying the ointment every hour to my cold sore - keep it clean, apply the ointment, keep it dry until it starts healing (sometimes within hours, sometimes it takes up to a day).

I am miserable when I get cold sores - please keep making this!!!

I've used the precursor of Releev, going by the label of Viramedx for a couple of years. When it changed to Releev I continuing using it.

It's very effective in treating cold sores. I wouldn't be without it on the shelf. Before these products I would have outbreaks about five times a year with a couple of weeks recovery. With them (Viramedx/Releev) I have one or two outbreaks a year with 2 day recovery.

As for the price - I use less than one 2 oz bottle over a three year period. That's pretty cheap for something that works really well.

I haven't used this particular product, but I have used one with the same active ingredient Benzalkonium Chloride (0.13%). And it works the balls. I only needed two treatments and it completely dried out my fever blister. I get fever blisters all the time especially when stressed. And it's tough to find something that works. Abreva and meds like that only work if you use at the tingle. I don't get the tingle, I usually go straight to a blister showing up. I am going to try this one since I can't find the other one I used.

I've been getting cold sores since puberty. I get them usually when my hormones are kicked up or down, I am run-down, when the weather is extreme or when something irritates my upper lip, (best example would be when I kiss my boyfriend when he has 5-o'clock shadow). Releev works best when you use it preemptively at times you know you are prone. If you start to feel a cold sore coming (tingly lip), it usually works to prevent it from developing. If you get a cold sore before you get a chance to treat it, this is still pretty effective at stopping it from getting worse, drying it out and what's best is that I have never gotten an unsightly scab or any bad side effect from this product. It's far & away the best cold sore treatment and worth the price!!! The bottle is tiny, but a little drop goes a long way and although it comes out brown, it dries clear.
