Sometimes gums, tongue, inside checks. Very painful and in may ways debilitating. At about age 40 I discovered a doctor who finally told me they could be treated with a powerful anti-inflamatory prescription drug called Colchicine. It is most commonly used for gout treatment. Requires close doctor supervision but it works! This drug combined with this wonderful toothpaste eliminated the ulcers virtually completely. Where I used to have 10 or 15 at a time, I now have maybe 1 or 2 a year and that is usually if I travel and forget this toothpaste. So, although the drug has changed my life it alone doesn't completely get rid of the problem. This toothpaste and the drug are, for me, the key to an ulcer free mouth! I keep a big stock because I am always afraid they will quit making it. Well worth the price. You don't have to use a lot. Most people use way more toothpaste than they really need. If I bit the inside of my lip or cheek, the wound would take a week or two to heal. Sometimes, swelling was so bad I could not talk. This toothpaste does not have sodium lauryl sulfate, the detergent that makes other pastes foam up so much. SLS also breaks down skin tissue. Now, using Rembrandt twice a day, the wounds heal within a couple days, and I don't have outbreaks. BUT - they've changed the formulation and this stuff is THICK! It takes a LOT of muscle to squeeze anything out of the tube. If it didn't do such a good job of beating canker sores, the aggravation would make it useless. This is the ONLY thing that works if used daily. My son does not use any other toothpaste and he now only gets them a couple times a year. Having near constant canker sores for nearly a year, I started looking for something that might help, and came across this toothpaste. The theory is that canker sores may be caused/exacerbated by sodium laureth sulfate, the foaming agent in most toothpastes. This is free from that ingredient. I refuse to use any other toothpaste because if I do, I almost immediately get canker sores. My dentist has noticed a big difference in my now healthy teeth and gums. Regular toothpastes would only make them worse. With Rembrandt Canker Sore formula, mouth bites do not turn into canker sores and when one does occasionally form, it heals in half the time. If you suffer from canker sores this is the single best product that I am aware of to reduce their frequency AND duration. I swear by it because it works.
