I PURCHASED THIS FLAT IRON AND IT WOULD NOT STAY ON LONG ENOUGH TO HEAT UP. I HAD TO REPEATEDLY TURN IT ON TO GET IT TO STAY ON AND HEAT UP. READ SIMILAR ISSUES FROM OTHER USERS AND THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A FLUKE SO I EXCHANGED FOR A NEW ONE...SAME ISSUE BUT WORSE. THE SECOND ONE WAS WORSE THAN THE FIRST ABOUT TURNING OFF BEFORE GETTING THROUGH THE HEAT UP CYCLE. VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE WHEN IT DID FINALLY HEAT UP IT ACTUALLY WORKED WELL. ALSO NOT IMPRESSED BY THE POOR DESIGN OF THE BUTTONS WHERE YOU WOULD NATURALLY HOLD THE FLAT IRON. :(

After reading many reviews I decided to order this flat iron. I came across one or two reviews about the flat iron being defective -- would not stay on. Well, I got one of those. Frustrating because I was anxious to try this out for the upcoming humid season. I called drugstore.com the next morning and was immediately emailed a return label and was sent out a replacement at no charge, which I received in two days. I plugged it in, and it worked perfectly! It really straightens my hair well and it stays straight. I do not have curly hair, per se, but my hair "expands" and it is hard to keep it smooth and flat when I flat iron it in the humid spring and summer. I have been using John Frieda's 3 Day Straight for about a year now, which works great, but in the summer I still have to work at keeping my hair de-frizzed. Using 3 Day Straight with the Remington Style Therapy Flat Iron worked great for me -- even in humid Bermuda. Also, this flat iron travels very well -- it is sleek and has a locking mechanism on the handle to keep it closed.

ONE ODD NOTE: the directions tell you how to "lock" the controls so you don't accidentally turn it off or change the temperature. They are incorrect. To lock the settings, hold down the "--" button used to change temps until you hear a beep and see a lock icon on the LCD screen.

I like it when I can get it to heat up. When I turn it on, it will turn off after about 30 seconds, this will happen 3-4 times each time I use it. Sometimes I will keep trying, other times I give up. It's very annoying. I even checked the instructions to see if I was doing something wrong. It blinks like it's heating up, then turns itself off, eventually it will stay on, but I don't always have time to mess with it. If I had realized this before I threw the box and everything away, I would have returned it.

I love the idea of this product "controlling frizz" and I also like the width of the iron, but I am very disappointed with the product. Firsts of all, there were no instructions included or list of qualities such as "stay on 30 minutes and then auto shut off." I think I have it turned on, and when I pick up to use it, it is cold or warm at best. If it does decide to heat up, when I place it in my hand to use, I accidently hit the control buttons and it turns off! DO NOT BUY!

I have very thick hair. I have always used salon styling tools, and after 9 years my CHI flat iron died. I did not want to spend $200 on a new one and decided it was time to try another brand. After reading the reviews I was excited to try this Remington flat iron. My fingers were crossed because it is so hard to have a flat iron that can keep my hair smooth. What is so great about this flat iron is that you can adjust the heat to handle certain parts of your hair. I live in South Florida and between the heat, humidity, and ocean air my hair within minutes. This flat iron is AMAZING and I would have to say better than my CHI. My hair was smooth and shiny. I love this flat iron and would recommend it to any one with thick hair.

After hearing from my sister who has similiar one, I compared it with Ultra Chi (costly one) that I had purchased. Realizing I saw NO difference between those two. I returned the 'costly' items (Ultra Chi). Not only that, one of the Chi's weren't fully ceramic plated. It was coated. I wanted whole plates to be ceramic. This one does! Even better as it has heat settings and lock to close the flat iron, whereas Chi didn't have those. I am happy I bought this.

This is a good lightweight flat iron. It heats up in 30 seconds, as described and is easy to use and great for styling and touchups. What's also good about this product is that once you set it to a desired temperature, it remembers your temperature setting until you re-set it.

I'm multiracial and have long curly thick hair and my daughter's have african american hair. We've always used the CHI but when the cord broke I looked for a replacement. I was intending to buy another CHI but saw the grat reviews for this one and decided to give it a try. Wow! It heats up in seconds, has multiple heat settings which is great for the different hair types of me and my daughters. I started using Moroccan Oil which also relaxes the curl and provides shine and softness so I'm not sure how much of it is the oil or the flatiron but the combination- I've never had such soft, silky, frizz free hair that STAYS straight even in humid Florida weather. Wonderful buy. Intend to buy another as a backup- at this price I can get 2 for what I'd pay for one CHI.
