I get eaten alive by mosquitos, and I walk our dogs in a state park loaded with Deer ticks. I will not use DEET, and I will not use Frontline, Advantage, or any other class 3 carcinogen that metabolizes through the liver on my animals. I took a bottle of Repel into our holistic vet, and she said fine, just not for cats since they groom themselves. While the dogs are not crazy about the smell, for a product without harmful chemicals that works, who cares about the smell? If what I have written above doesn't convince you, it's the ONLY non-toxic insect repellent tested & recommended number ONE by Consumer Reports.

PREVIOUSLY, REPEL CONTAINED 40% LEMON EUCALYPTUS ACTIVE INGREDIENT, CURRENTLY THE BOTTLES CONTAIN ONLY 30%. THE EARLIER PRODUCTION BOTTLES HAD A VERY EFFECTIVE SPRAYER WITH A FLIP UP ARM TO STOP ANY LEAKAGE. CURRENTLY, REPEL HAS REPLACED THE EXCELLENT SPRAYER WITH A CHEAP VERSION THAT REQUIRES PRIMING BEFORE SPRAY IS EXITED AND A CHEAP CLEAR PLASTIC CAP WHICH IS EASILY KNOCKED OFF OR LOST. THIS PRODUCT IS CURRENTLY LESS EFFECTIVE AND CHEAPENED; THEREFORE, I AM RETURNING 6 OF THE UNUSED BOTTLES.

Comments about Repel Plant Based Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent, 4 fl oz:

Repel is non-toxic to humans, has a strong odor that mosquitos do not seem to like. It's nice to be able to use an eco-friendly and non-toxic product that contains no DEET. Again, it works!

Comments about Repel Plant Based Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent, 4 fl oz:

Sent my daughter to camp with this because I wanted a DEET-free repellent, especially since she was also going to be wearing sunscreen (which I've read not to mix a DEET-based repellent with sunscreen because of the absorption of the DEET). Anyway, though it smells REALLY strong (stronger than most repellents, even though none of them smell good), it does seem to work and after all, that plus the safety are all we really care about.

Works great, and doesn't smell as bad as other types. It keeps the bugs off while outdoors well enough that I'm not bothered.

Comments about Repel Plant Based Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent, 4 fl oz:

I have to say first and foremost that I haven't tested this out in a wooded area to determine how well it works, but the reason I purchased this insect repellant is that my kids' preschool sent home a bulletin from the State of Massachusetts regarding effecacy of insect repellants. It stated that oil of lemon eucalyptus is as effective as low concentrations of DEET. What I would like to weigh in on is the fragrance. I tried this out on myself, and while the fragrance is strong at first, after a short while I didn't notice it at all. To me, the fragrance is no more bothersome than other products that contain essential oils, like vapo-rub or natural cleaning agents. In my opinion, it is certainly not as noxious to breathe as many chemical insect repellants that I have used in the past. I felt comfortable sending this to preschool for my kids. Just be certain to follow the directions and not to spray it directly onto the face. If you need to apply it on the face or neck, spray some onto your palm and rub it in. I will be purchasing another bottle to keep at home.

We used this on a camping trip where the bugs were very thick. It worked fantastically. There were 6 people with us for 3 days. Only 2 bug bites out of everyone. My 6 year old got a little bit of rough skin from it, but he's highly sensitive to anything on his skin anyway.

This should be in another section - not for gardeners so much as for golfers. It's a mosquito repellent. So far we are testing it - it needs to be reapplied fairly frequently, but reapplying is simple (just spray it on) and it feels good to know I'm not putting Deet on my skin. It smells nice. When I sprayed it on the mosquitoes just flew away immediately.

Comments about Repel Plant Based Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent, 4 fl oz:

I honestly think different chemicals behave differently on people. I'm the kind of person who draws mosquitoes in droves -- people stand next to me at parties just so they won't get bitten -- and I've tried MANY repellents that do nothing. This is hands down the most effective one I've tried and I love that it doesn't have DEET. It smells ghastly, though (although that fades quickly)... and be sure not to breathe it in while applying, because it's like mustard gas.

Used in MN- mosquito country. It worked well, but if you sweat- prepare for it to sting your pores BADLY. Also- it is a spray oil and I had the misfortune of catching a waft of the mist- I was in a hacking fit- it was as if I had inhaled oven cleaner. I'm not sure how natural this is. It was quite harsh.
