I'm updating my 'negative' review after researching medical info on all this business about cottage-cheese and burning. I HIGHLY suggest you do your own online medical research on types of vaginitis and vaginal atrophy. I found the answers I needed and am willing to give it a try as this product was one of the top two recommended as an alternative to estrogen. It comes down to what/who you feel you can trust. A friend's doctor recommended it to her and my research confirmed it's certainly one to try. That's good enough for me.

Like many considering Replens, I read reviews all over the internet and frankly, was rather apprehensive about trying it. I am in my late 40s, and have noticed significant dryness just in the last 3 or 4 months (just starting to become peri-menopausal). So much so, that not only was sex painful, I felt day-to-day irritation much of the time. I purchased Replens here and waited about a week after receiving it to try it (again, based on all the negative reviews about pain, smell discharge, etc.)

Well!!! I have had no side effects to speak of - maybe slight minor cramping the first day after, but that could have just been a coincidence. I only use an applicator once every two weeks or so, and I cannot tell you how much better I feel. I haven't tried the reusable applicator version, but I think that would be messy and inconvenient, so I'll stay with the pre-filled.

In any case, if you are worried about the negative reviews, I say try it at least once. There seem to be about as many positive reviews as negative ones out there, and I think this is a case of just needing to see if it works for you.

This product should not be sold!! About a week after using it for the first time, I had the most disgusting discharge ever. I thought I had a terrible infection until I started reading other's reviews of this product. Low and behold, I too was having the same symptoms they were describing. DO NOT buy this!! If I could give it zero stars I would.

The users who are upset about the discharge should not be upset. The lubricant is suppose to moisturize and when that occurs the dead cells that are dry are going to slough off. Having to wear a panty liner isn't comfortable but the alternative is less so.

There is a booklet that I read carefully and read that there is a cottage-cheese side-effect that the manufacturing company suggests is "normal" and a normal process to exfoliate internal dead cells. What woman who has ever experienced normal cottage-cheese like exfoliation - possibly for a day or two on a regular basis? I made a terrible mistake purchasing this product. This is way too harsh for such a delicate area. The company needs to re-work this product with more natural and organic ingredients. Until then, I cannot buy this or recommend it. What a shame. The search continues...

I've used Replens that comes in just one tube and with an applicator, and it worked well. The discharge was evident at first, but the more I used it the less discharge occurred. I went to replace the tube and applicator, when I happened upon the individually wrapped applicators, and tried that. What an incredible convenience! They are easy to use and simply throw away - no applicator to constantly wash. Yes, they're a little pricey, but that's the cost of convenience. I wholly recommend this product.

At 35 I started having some symptoms of vaginal dryness - discomfort and mild stinging. For the first time I had to use a lubricant during sex. I also had a yeast infection and a few UTIs.

I tried Replens to moisturize and balance vaginal pH. I hesitated trying it because I read so many reviews that were horror stories about discharge and irritation.

Yes, there is a white discharge, but I didn't experience it in the quantities some people describe, and it did decrease with regular use (every 3-4 days). Nothing a pantyliner doesn't take care of. I had no discomfort from applying the product and it has elimated all of my symptoms of vaginal dryness. My boyfriend has no idea I use it - there's no odor or taste. Best of all, I don't need to use any lube for sex - I'I feel like myself again !

I'm glad I didn't let scary reviews frighten me off - everyone reacts differently so you just have to see how your body will handle it.

I have been tortured by dryness and itchiness for the past 3 years due to menopause. My doctor prescribed premarin which I refused to use. I saw this stuff and decided to try it. It has been a miracle. I no longer suffer the horrible itching and I am interested in sex again! I don't have any of the negative side effects some of you are talking about. All I can say is thank you to the makers of this product!!
