Then we decided to try Rite Aid's generic version, when Benadryl ran out. After taking just one tablet, my wife felt very nauseous, and I (after my usual two tablets) felt very drowsy much more so than from Benadryl. But it did relieve allergy symptoms. We stopped taking it and bought the brand-name. Comments about Rite Aid ~Allergy Medication, Coated Minitabs: I use this product myself when I need to, but mostly I purchase it for my dogs who have allergies and have to take it on a daily basis. It's such a great value--much cheaper than the animal equivalent and the brand-name allergy meds and it works just as well. All of the other generic meds I found only came in blister-packs (hate them!!) and in boxes of 30 or less. This product is perfect for us; it's relatively inexpensive and easy to use. For years I've been taking one every night at bedtime. Within an hour I'm konked out and ready for sleep. Even after approx 10 years of use, I haven't built up a resistance or needed to take more than one.It's gotten expensive, though. It used to be around $5-$8. Still, its cheaper than Benedryl.
