I started using Zyrtec after my doctor initially prescribed it to me for the discomfort I was having with a running nose, horribly itchy. red eyes, and a rash breaking out all over my body. It all stopped immediately within 30 minutes. After time went by, the pharmacy filled my prescription with the generic instead of the name brand. I have never had any problems with the brand name or generic at any time. The biggest con or site effect that affects most people is the drowsiness. I've never had any problems being drowsy; however, I take quite a few other prescription meds that have drowsiness as a site effect as well. I think this is why I'm not affected by this symptom. I was sort of glad when Zyrtec and the generic came out as an OTC; however, it's a lot harder to afford the cost on a one-a-day schedule now. Irregardless, the medication is a good medication to stop problems with indoor AND outdoor allergies. If I give into it, I damage my skin and then get eczema. When Zyrtec first came out as a prescription drug, it was the best thing since sliced bread. For the first time in my adult life, I could go through the day without constant itching and scratching. And luckily, my insurance covered it. Now Zyrtec is sold over the counter, but it's still expensive if you have to take it every day as I do. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful?
