I received this product in my running goodie bag a week or so ago. I have been suffering from dry eyes my entire life and I am thankful for finding this product. I am a runner and an outdoor enthusiast. My eyes are constantly getting dried out from my contacts and I have tried many other eyes drops, but nothing has compared. When I first put this product in my eyes, I will admit it was very cold on my eyes, but after a couple of seconds, this subsided and my eyes felt great for the rest of the day. I now use this product once every morning and once every evening. I would DEFINITELY recommend this product to others with dry eyes.

I got these to see if I can give my tired eyes some relief. I work on computers all day and on a particularly long day, I used these on my eyes when they were dry and tired.

I couldn't open my eyes for about a minute because it was pretty uncomfortable when I put these in - my eyes became very sensitive to light and it irritated my eyes a bit. Keep in mind, I don't like ANYTHING going in my eyes (never liked contacts, and even when I go for an eye exam the folks there have trouble making me open my eyes wide enough to put eye drops in them).

But after the initial light sensitivity and irritation/slight burning in my eyes, I could really feel it cool my eyes. It felt refreshing. This thing hydrated my eyes pretty well. The cool feeling lasted quite a while.

If only there weren't the initial light-sensitivity/burning issues...

I probably wouldn't use them again unless my eyes are extremely dry and irritated to begin with. For slight dryness, I might as well close them for a couple of minutes and spare the initial uncomfortableness of these eyedrops.

It works fine but only after giving you a little bit of a hard time first.

Comments about Rohto Hydra Dry Eye Reliever, .4 fl oz:

I really wanted to like these eye drops. After seeing my eye doctor last year, who advised using eye drops from time to time to keep eyes hydrated with lots of computer use, I ventured out to get myself some nice drops.

The name "Hydra" says to me moisturizing. That's all I wanted.

These burn my eyes so badly when I first put them in that despite the "cooling sensation" that occurs within a couple of minutes, I can't bring myself to continue using them. I tried it two or three times before I just had to give up. The cooling sensation is due to the menthol that is in these. I would never want to put menthol in my eyes!

Other ingredients listed are things I would never consider putting on my eye: boric acid and several different "chlorides."

Altogether, this is an utter failure for me. I will be searching for other eye drops that have different ingredients in them.

These eyedrops feel great. They are so soothing and refreshing. I keep them on hand now that it is allergy season and my eyes look bright and clear and also they stop itching immediately. I love these eyedrops!

This product SAVED ME when I got severe dry eyes following Lasik surgery. I still use them when my eyes get dry from weather, allergies, or extended computer use. Yes, they burn, but only for a few seconds. The relief is worth it!

Comments about Rohto Hydra Dry Eye Reliever, .4 fl oz:

I have no idea why they would change the eye drops, when Rohto Zi worked so well. Rohto Hydra works good, but it stings first when you put it in, not like Rohto Zi. When I found out they were no longer making Rohto Zi, I searched the whole website trying to find it. When I did find it the price was three times as much as the original, and I refused to pay that price, so I tried Rohto Hydra. It is almost the same, except it really stings at first, but than it starts to refresh your eyes with that same cooling sensation. I just hope they go back to the original Rohto Zi.

Comments about Rohto Hydra Dry Eye Reliever, .4 fl oz:

The best product I've found for chronic dry eyes. I tried the Restasis product - expensive and a drug with possible side effects - with little benefit. I've tried almost every OTC eye drop for chronic dry eyes and none work as good as these. Effect is long lasting too. After the initial sting from the menthol, my eyes feel so much better. Who knew putting menthol in your eyes would be so sooting?! I'm so glad I found these.

BTW, this specific type of Rohto is not for redness relief - it is only for dryness releif. There is another type of Rohto that is for redness relief, so if you wan't redness relief try that type.

This product would be perfect for dry eyes if it did not burn upon application!! As for the last comment about not reducing redness in eyes, I think the other Rohto products (Ice, Artic, and Cool) do that and this one is primarily for lubrication. That being said though, the harsh string irritates my eyes and makes them red for a few minutes after I put the drops in. Once they calm down though, they stay hydrated for most of the day and definitely feel refreshed and cool. In fact, I love the cool sensation but I suspect that's what makes it burn so badly upon application. All in all, I will have to pass on the Rohto Hydra because of the initial redness and irritation caused by the burning.
