Anyway, gorgeous tin; the balm smells great, if you like roses, that is (I do); and then I go to use it. I don't know about you, but I don't like to stick my fingers into my balms unless it's some "balm emergency". I'll use my lips until I can no longer get at it that way. So I did so with this product, very lightly, and ended up with goop EVERYWHERE. This stuff is SOFT and SMOOSHY beyond belief. What a mess. But now I know. APPROACH WITH CAUTION!!! Store this somewhere cool. It's worth the extra measures because it is awesome. There's a reason people have been buying it since 1892! It's perfection in a pretty tin. It's hyper-lightweight, but stays on. It's flavor/scent are very light, but soooooo nice. And chapping? Buh bye... in ONE use. How's that? Granted, it was light chapping, but still... I have very dry lips and this did not penetrate or heal. In fact it felt like my lips were getting drier the more I used it! This might be better for someone who does not have sensitive lips. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because I use it on my cuticles (though it does leave my hands oily). I prefer Sally Hansen Lip Butter hands down! Smith's Rosebud Salve, .8 oz: This is one great product with a ton of uses..it is a natural product, it may seem a bit pricey, but 1 little tin lasts forever...I've been on my first tin for 6 months and I still have a ton left! I have used it as a lip gloss-it gives you a subtle tint. It can be used to soothe rough cracked skin, callouses, even diaper rash! It seems there really is nothing this salve can't do. Smith's Rosebud Salve, .8 oz: I bought this stuff because my lips get horribly chapped (even in summer) daily, to the point of cracking and bleeding, and Carmex tastes horrid. Although at first I didn't think this was doing much (because it dries into your lips in a shorter time than I like), I soon realized that even when my lips get dry now they don't crack anymore. It is actually improving the...moisture quality, or non-cracking quotient, or something...of my lips. I do wish it lasted a little longer before soaking into my lips (lasts maybe an hour, two at most) but I will take having them not crack and bleed anymore! It is an odd fragrance but I've grown to like it--and it's a darn sight better than yucky Carmex! Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Comments about Rosebud Perfume Co. Smith's Rosebud Salve, .8 oz: A cult classic, Smith's Rosebud Salve is touted as a cure-all for everything from burns and blemishes to diaper rash and callouses. As a lip balm, it offers a beautifully glossy, barely pink finish and a pleasant rose scent. Unfortunately, I don't find the salve to be particularly great at keeping my lips hydrated. While the product does condition my lips slightly, it wears off almost immediately and reapplying every few minutes quickly becomes a pain. The slick formula (think Vaseline-like) melts under the heat of finger application and slides off my lips, leaving me longing for something with a more substantial consistency. Also, I can't believe that the colour is real. This is not natural enough for me. Good thing it was cheap, though. I am definitely sticking with Alba jelly.
