Anyway, gorgeous tin; the balm smells great, if you like roses, that is (I do); and then I go to use it. I don't know about you, but I don't like to stick my fingers into my balms unless it's some "balm emergency". I'll use my lips until I can no longer get at it that way. So I did so with this product, very lightly, and ended up with goop EVERYWHERE. This stuff is SOFT and SMOOSHY beyond belief. What a mess. But now I know. APPROACH WITH CAUTION!!! Store this somewhere cool. It's worth the extra measures because it is awesome. There's a reason people have been buying it since 1892! It's perfection in a pretty tin. It's hyper-lightweight, but stays on. It's flavor/scent are very light, but soooooo nice. And chapping? Buh bye... in ONE use. How's that? Granted, it was light chapping, but still... I have very dry lips and this did not penetrate or heal. In fact it felt like my lips were getting drier the more I used it! This might be better for someone who does not have sensitive lips. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because I use it on my cuticles (though it does leave my hands oily). I prefer Sally Hansen Lip Butter hands down! My family has been using this wonder salve as long as I can remember, starting with my great-grandmother in the early 1900's. We use it for everything. It's wonderful to prevent/cure diaper rash, chapped lips, chapped skin, blemishes, and minor cuts. Everyone I've had try it wants their own. I haven't found a more universal product. I have used it on my lips over my lipstick for a tinted glossy effect, and I have used it on my cuticles as well. If you use it faithfully, it works well. I'd heard such great things about this product, but found it drying on the lips. I got used to the smell, but I didn't find it appealing or rose-scented. I did like the touch of color it added to my lips and cheeks. It was just right for a minimalist girl like me. It was just too drying. I first discovered it when I lived in Frederick MD, as I believe it was made right around that area. It was getting hard to find. I had tried their Starwberry one, but the taste of strawberries all the time was a little much. I got my first tin of it today and have been happily slathering my chapped lips often. It has a slight rose scent, but that fades, and is not at all over powering-nor does it have a taste to it. I appiled some to a few very dry spots on my face, and even my cuticles. A great all-purpose product that I will indulgde in again! And this is a large generous tin, it will certainly last longer then any lip balm in the tube. Comments about Rosebud Perfume Co. Smith's Rosebud Salve, .8 oz: This scent gave me terrible headaches. It is pretty strong, and being right below your nose once applied, it is not for those with a sensitivity to perfumes. I did like the texture when I put it on my lips, so I was sad that the smell affected me so badly. BE CAREFUL - don't leave this product near a heat source or in a hot car. I left mine in the car, and when I opened it, it had completely melted and spilled all over my shirt and pants. It didn't come out in the wash. Comments about Rosebud Perfume Co. Smith's Rosebud Salve, .8 oz: I'm on my second tin of this stuff. I ALWAYS always goop it on before bed every night. My lips are rarely chapped during the day and they are always plump. I figure if I keep moisturizing my lips, when I'm old they won't become yucky looking! The smell is nice, more of a fake rose smell- but I dont care because I don't use it for the fragrance, and it dosen't put me off any. The tin is cute and looks nice on my bathroom vanity.
