Rosebud Perfume Co. Smith's Rosebud Salve 0.8 oz

our price: $5.59

Is it as good as they claim? There's no doubt. Hard-to-find Rosebud Salve is considered the gold-standard of lip balms -- even jaded Beauty Editors (we're just one example) go crazy for it. Soft, supple, and slightly rose-scented lips result with every use.

I've wanted to try this product for a loooooong time, and finally just saw it again on here, so I ordered it. I know... very exciting tale. Anyway, gorgeous tin; the balm smells great, if you like roses, that is (I do); and then I go to use it. I don't know about you, but I don't like to stick my fingers into my balms unless it's some "balm emergency". I'll use my lips until I can no longer get at it that way. So I did so with this product, very lightly, and ended up with goop EVERYWHERE. This stuff is SOFT and SMOOSHY beyond belief. What a mess. But now I know. APPROACH WITH CAUTION!!! Store this somewhere cool. It's worth the extra measures because it is awesome. There's a reason people have been buying it since 1892! It's perfection in a pretty tin. It's hyper-lightweight, but stays on. It's flavor/scent are very light, but soooooo nice. And chapping? Buh bye... in ONE use. How's that? Granted, it was light chapping, but still...
This is definitely a buy-again. Even with the smoosh-factor. :)

I was so excited to get this because (like a fool) I wanted to use what the stars use. So lame! This product smells nice but tastes like glycerin. I have very dry lips and this did not penetrate or heal. In fact it felt like my lips were getting drier the more I used it! This might be better for someone who does not have sensitive lips. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because I use it on my cuticles (though it does leave my hands oily). I prefer Sally Hansen Lip Butter hands down!

Comments about Rosebud Perfume Co. Smith's Rosebud Salve, .8 oz:

I couldn't stand the scent of this product long enough to tell whether it would be an effective lip balm. I grow roses, and whatever's in this Vaseline-like substance must've originated in a chemical manufacturer's facility, not a rose. Worse still, the fake 'rose' element of the scent is overpowered by some sort of (also fake) fruity scent.

I tried a bit on my elbows, and I'd have done better using unscented Vaseline. Even at this distance the scent was overpowering, and any number of inexpensive drugstore creams would've been much more moisturizing and less greasy.

Comments about Rosebud Perfume Co. Smith's Rosebud Salve, .8 oz:

I had serious jaw reconstructive surgery & a lip moisturizer was recommended post-op. Similiar surgerical post-op patients recommended Vaseline or Aquaphor Healing Ointment on their blogs. But they did complain it wasn't as effective as they would've liked. However, I found the Rosebud Salve to moisturize better and last a lot longer. The rosey smell was a little stronger than I prefer, but that's a very small price to pay for the product's effectiveness.

Additionally, it also works great on cuticles. (:

This is a lip balm not a lip gloss. It goes on clear for me and has a wonderful rose garden smell that lasts until the product absorbs after about 5 or 10 minutes.

I read great reviews on this.. tried it and it is a great product. No more chapped lips. I put it on my lips every evening before bed. I also layer it on my cuticles and rub on my elbows.

I wish it came in two sizes. The norm size and a bit larger one for scooping out and using on dry patchy skin (elbows, knees, feet)

I really like this although I think I was expecting more of a solid perfume than an all purpose salve (even though that is how it is marketed) It has a very nice but very light rose scent. It does make a good lip balm, and is great for smaller patches of dry skin (great in winter). I have to say I am still happy with it even though I misinformed myself on what to expect.
