I was glad to read reviews and to now agree that they're a durable solution to weak, peeling nails. In my case, this was due to a nutrition error and then getting three shellac manicures over the hoidays. I started polishing my own nails at 12, so I have the skill to apply these strips well, and this second time went better. I gave 4 stars because the strips could be easier to remove from packing, and easier to handle after that. Tape the top of wrapper closed to keep the remaining strips from drying (I cut them in half). I agree that its best to apply after last water on hands before bed so they set well over night. The edges can be easily peeled off with a sharp tool. I polished the next day, which eliminated the chips of the plain strips. Do it in few swift strokes as it seems to "melt" the strips a bit. I just touch-up the tips after wear, as any other manicure. Now I hope my nails get stronger with using them, but I'm not sure what effect the glue will have. So, I apply cuticle oil and hope for the best! Good luck!

I have really flexible nails and have never been able to keep nail polish on for more than 24 hours. I'm no sure how much of a "shield" it is, but this is the first thing to stay on my nails for more than a week! I have short nails, so I was able to get two applications out of one box. It does peel off at the cuticle and tips a bit, so I wouldn't recommend it for people that have no problem with other nail treatments. I would suggest prepping those areas well with the buffer.
It has a bad smell for the first day or so-- but it's not as bad liquid nail polish. And I would love it if it came with extra strips to do a french manicure.

The glue layer is very thin and dries up if you don't use the nailstrip right after opening the package. Therefore I apply a thin layer of fast drying clear nailpolish to my nail first, let it dry for about 15 seconds, THEN apply the salon effects nailsrtip. It sticks right away, and you won't be able to move it around on your nail, so you better aim right, when you put it on. Its shiny and dry right away, looks great and lasts for a week. I would like to see the color WHITE, because I'd like to do french nails with this great product...

I'm a busy working mom with no time, constantly washing hands, etc...these are a revelation for me because I simply cannot maintain a manicure. Regular nailpolish always chips on me within a day at least. If I put these on (slightly above cuticle and on very clean nails), I can paint OVER these and my mani will last 7-10 days. It's worth it to me to not have to do my nails every other day, plus if I get sick of my mani, I can paint over them again which just makes the layer stronger.

My nails have been horrid for a decade. Had to have acrylics for a show I performed in and had an adverse reaction where the chemicals ate my nails. To this day, they still grow in with horrid ridges to the point where the sides will separate from the cuticles. Any polish or strengthener chips off within 24 hours, plus my nails are very sensitive and seem to get more ridges from the chemicals. These stick on ones are awesome. In a way, they hold my nail together while they grow out and I've noticed an increase in the speed of growth. My nails are semi-presentable for the first time in years!

Due to a poison ivy rash, I had to cancel my gel manicure 11 days ago. On an impulse that day, I picked these up from a local store just to try. They're cheap, so I figured I had nothing to lose (although I had pretty low expectations.)

They were super easy to apply. I did put a couple on crooked, but since I bought the clear ones, you can't really tell. There is hardly any chipping, but I can see where the new nail growth is. It's obvious now because the nail strips seem to have yellowed a bit.

I would definitely use them again in a pinch. And I would probably remove after a week to avoid the yellow look -- but the colored ones probably don't do that. I'm leaving these on now to see if they'll really hang in there for 14 days. So far so good...

I am an artist, a gardener, love to cook, and my hands really get a work out in water, paint, and dirt. This is the only product that I've found that protects my nails from major abuse in a very dry climate. I am extremely happy with this product.
