Comments about Salter Electronic Baby and Toddler Scale, Model 914, 1 ea:
I bought this scale to weigh my then-newborn. I've used it regularly (every two weeks or so, sometimes more) for the past 10 months.
This scale looks good and seems to be accurate - I compared the weight to the scale at the doctor's office and the readings didn't differ by more than an ounce (probably external factors). The tray top provided is perfect for small babies. Now that my son started walking I just stand him up on the scale without the top, on the spots provided (he outgrew it too quickly but he's a big baby). There are two spots for the child's feet - these are not too small and would fit a child's feet comfortably with room to spare.
The battery lasts a long time. I've never had to change it since I put it in 10 months ago.
if you want to weigh the baby with a diaper, just put an empty diaper on the tray, turn on the scale and it will automatically compensate for the weight, then take the empty diaper off the scale and put the baby in there.
Other thoughts: I'd have given it 5 stars if the toddler's feet didn't have to be in the two spots provided for them. It would have been more convenient if it was a continuous flat surface. It's hard to keep a curious 10-month old baby who can walk/run to stand still with his feet at the given spots on a scale. Also bigger babies may outgrow it too quickly but this is not a problem for average sized babies. I wish it could weigh more, 60 pounds would have been great.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
