Comments about Samy Fat Foam Permanent Hair Color, Medium Brown N5, 1 application:

I don't know about the other colors but I love the medium brown. It covers the gray, looks very natural, and doesn't turn brassy. I've used it for several years, and when Walmart stopped carrying it, I bought it online.

Comments about Samy Fat Foam Permanent Hair Color, Medium Brown N5, 1 application:

I purchased this product hoping for an easy to use product.

*This product is not as easy as it appears. You mix up a powder with a liquid and shake it in a plastic container. It does become a foam but then you scoop it out of the container and it turns into liquid quite fast and because of that it goes all over.Good thing is it did wash out of things in the washer. I had a friend help me dye my hair and we had a mess all over, as it just would not stay in our hands.

*The smell was not bad, but the processing time was 30 minutes and as another poster wrote, the instructions were not really clear.
I used the included shampoo which did lather well and smelled very nice. There is also included conditions but there is way less then there is shampoo- it also smelled well, but just not enough of it.

          * I have colored my hair a lot and this was the first time my hair felt like straw and was a tangled mess when I was done. We rinsed and rinsed my hair and still the next day when I washed my hair I noticed dye in the tub.

**I also notice the color is darker then the box and it left my gray hair on my roots way lighter, nearly redish where the ends of my hair were nearly black. I used medium brown so this should not have been a problem.

**All and all I was disappointed in this product and will not use it again.

What I love the most about this product is that it is so easy to use and it does not make a mess in the bathroom. It smells great and makes my hair so shiny and healthy looking. I wish they would keep selling it in the stores.

Comments about Samy Fat Foam Permanent Hair Color, Medium Brown N5, 1 application:

Things to know about my hair before you read this review:

                * My hair is dry. Insanely dry. Crazy dry. Dry dry dry.

                * My hair grow fast, and sections of it are totally white, so I color the roots about every 2 weeks. Because my hair is so dry, I rarely color anything more than the roots. This means that there are bits near the ends that are the faded, yellowish color of white hair that was dyed brown long, long ago.

I bought the Samy Fat Foam on a whim. My usual stuff is from a beauty supply store (which is supposed to be better quality), but beauty supply stores are open limited hours. My stash ran out, my hair turned white, so there I was in the drugstore, trying to figure out what to buy. Foam sounded fun, and I figured it would be easier to cover the ends of my shoulder-length hair with something less drippy and squirty than the usual squeeze bottle of hair goop. Turns out, it totally was.

The Fat Foam mixed up just right. I've read reviews that said the foam wasn't foamy, but it was for me. When I stopped shaking, the foam filled the big shaker cup heaping full. I followed the directions exactly (shake it up in long, 12" strokes), which may have made the difference. When applying the foam I scooped up rather small amounts - scooping with just two fingers - so I could carefully cover my gray. I left the color on about 5 minutes longer than recommended, as my gray hairs are pretty stubborn about being dyed.

                The result:

The color washed off well (it also washed cleanly off my skin). I did not use the shampoo and conditioner provided - I used my own stuff. My hair felt terrible - super duper ultra dry - at first, but better a few days later. The hair dye smell was GONE by the time I got out of the shower. I didn't have to smell it for an entire day, as with other brands. No dye stain on my towel or scalp. My ends were colored and I didn't spill or drip the dye while trying to cover the ends. The patches behind my ears (which I always somehow fail to dye) were pretty well covered.

My only real complaint: My gray was not completely covered. The box says "100% gray coverage," or I wouldn't have chanced the purchase. And I suppose my gray hairs are 100% covered. They are just 100% covered with a color about two shades lighter than the rest of my hair. But it's not bad, and as drawbacks go, it's one I can cope with.

                I'll use this product again.

Comments about Samy Fat Foam Permanent Hair Color, Medium Brown N5, 1 application:

The foam doesn't look at all the way it does on the box. You add dry powder to the developing solution and shake it in a cup. The resulting "foam" is like the foam you get when you shake a glass of milk. It looked to me like most of the color sank to the bottom of the cup. The directions read as though they came with a "made in China" product. You apply the foam to your part and hairline, from the roots to the tips. Then you apply all over, from the roots to the tips. Then you apply to the surface of the hair only, to ensure you've covered everything. Then you "once again, apply the sufficient amount of mixture... to ensure even distribution." Then you blend the foam throughout your hair and leave it on for a full 30 min. - except that there is a note to "check color development several times by wiping a strand of hair with a tissue." Huh? Do they mean, leaving on for 30 min may be too long? Then why not say "leave on for up to 30 min"? 30 minute development time is long for most home hair coloring products today. I am waiting to see how my hair color develops, but I am nervous! We'll see in 30 min - or less!
