I've used Lactaid and its generic equivalent with mixed results. They worked if I took 2 or 3 before eating milk products. Problem was I didn't always remember to take them with me on the road and some things I ate, like some cakes, contain milk products that really bothered me. Since taking Digestive Advantage, I've discarded the Lactaid and haven't had a single problem with food or side effects. This stuff has taken away my problems to the point where I can eat a bowl of ice cream at 8:00 at night with no problem! I highly recommend you try them. But I decided not to go that route and am back to my chewable Lactaid tablets (and avoiding dairy most of the time). My doctor used to prescribe it to all his patients, but he has changed his mind. The old instructions said to take it every morning and it would work all day, which it did. Perhaps they changed the ingredients because my doctor says that every patient to whom he has prescribed it lately comes back to complain that it does not work. I notice that the new instructions state to take it when you consume dairy. This makes it no different that all the other similar products. It is cheap so I would still recommend it.  Pros

I usually take a regular Digestive Advantage, but thought I might try the lactose defense version to see if it would help, but I think I'm just better off avoiding dairy products altogether. Maybe you have to take it regularly to get used to it. Pros

I'd tried everything on the market -Lactaid, etc. - to almost no effect. This is a total success. I can eat/drink anything in any amount except for sauces, such as caramel, made with dry milk - then I take one extra. No side effects whatsoever; it's just an enzyme replacement.I've been using it for more than 5 years. Pros

Since discovering it 2-3 years ago, I sometimes had a hard time finding it locally so i was thrilled to find it on this website. I am now able to eat things that are made with dairy products. I do still use the lactaid fast acting pills if I know I will be eating a meal that is dairy heavy. but for day to day this product works great. I did experience bloating when taking 2 a day but when I take 1 a day it works wonderful. Pros
