When I use other whitening toothpastes, it leave my teeth and gums sensitive. This toothpaste doesn't, and it also performs like a regular toothpaste, to fight cavities, gigivitis, plaque, tarter; bad breath...

It's a little pricey, doesn't whiten quite as well, and it's smooth texture is not quite as cleansing as other pastes or gels. But the way it instantly sooths irritated, painful gums or teeth far outweighs the drawbacks. I sometimes mix it with regular toothpaste, right on my toothbrush, to minimize the sensitivity.

I was experiencing some tooth pain (I clench my teeth in my sleep), so I decided to use a product intended to fight sensitivity. I chose this product because of the added benefit of whitening. The texture's a little hard to get used to, but I agree with the rest of the reviewers; this product is the first toothpaste to actually do what it says it will. It's removed a few of my deep stains, as well as getting rid of the pain I've been experiencing. I'm currently trying the new Iso Active version, but if that doesn't work out, I'm definitely coming back to this.

Sensodyne Toothpaste for Sensitive Teeth with Fluoride, Maximum Strength Extra Whitening

               – As many as one person in eight in the US has sensitive teeth. The discomfort and pain of sensitive teeth can be triggered by many things, including hot or cold food and beverages, cold air, sweet food and beverages and food acidity. Switching to Sensodyne Toothpaste for Sensitive Teeth with Fluoride, Maximum Strength Extra Whitening can help provide teeth fast relief in just two weeks. It can also restore the enjoyment of eating and drinking, while also improving oral health. This top-selling formula, when used on a regular basis, helps to build a protective barrier that minimizes painful sensation in the mouth, while helping to protect against cavities and whitening the appearance of teeth. The improved flavor leaves a fresh, clean feeling in the mouth, too.

              What Makes Teeth Sensitive?

When the hard outer enamel layer of teeth is worn away or weakened, the softer inner portion called dentin is exposed. Tiny tubules, connected with the nerve bundles, allow the sensation of temperature extremes, tastes and even cold air to travel to the nerve center of the teeth, causing sharp pain. Brushing too hard, teeth grinding, gum disease and age can cause enamel loss. Over 80% of people who have their teeth commercially whitened also experience sensitivity due to the treatment process. Using this type of Sensodyne whenever brushing provides teeth with potassium nitrate (clinically proven to reduce sensitivity), while also protecting teeth against cavities. Recommended by 9 out of 10 dentists, Sensodyne provides fast relief and improvement in the appearance of teeth. Be sure to talk to your dentist about your sensitivity.
