Controls sensitivity well, especially with daily use. Controls tartar very well. I have very little buildup between cleanings using this. Whitening ability is OK, not great. I'm willing to deal with that to get the sensitivity and tartar control benefits. Taste takes some getting used to, but after all, this is toothpaste, not candy.

I have incredibly sensitive teeth. I'm not sure if Sensodyne has any cumulative benefits, but I'm not willing to take a chance. Any effort I can make to reduce sensitivity is worth the cost to me. I use this twice a day along with my Sonicare brush.

THIS PRODUCT MAY TASTE BAD ...IN FACT IT DOES TASTE BAD BUT IT WORKS WONDERS. I LOVE THIS TOOTHPASTE AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND IT TO ANYBODY. IT WHITENS AND TAKES AWAY SENSITIVITY. I HAD A SPOT ON MY TOOTH AND ITS NEARLY GONE AND IVE BEEN USING THIS TOOTH PASTE FOR ABOUT A YEAR. A+++++++++

Do NOT buy this toothpaste. I didn't believe the other reviews about it removing a layer of skin from your mouth, but it does! I couldn't figure out what the white film in my mouth was until I realized it was coming from my cheeks. It's disgusting. And if that's not enough to turn you off, it doesn't do anything to reduce the sensitivity of your teeth either. I stuck with it for a month thinking it would get better, but it didn't.

My teeth are so sensitive that using the product as directed on the package did almost no good. However my dentist recommended using it as usual but avoiding rinsing, such as you would do following a fluoride treatment. This worked wonders. Now, if I use any other toothpaste (sensitive ones included) my sensitivity comes back.
One thing though, I ONLY like Fresh Impact. It's the only one that tastes good, similar to other toothpastes. Don't even bother with the others.

The taste does take some getting used to, but trust me, you will get used to it and then all other toothpastes will taste sickeningly sweet. I've used this for almost ten years now and it's the only toothpaste I will ever use. I have a few back teeth with some low gums, very close to exposing the root of the teeth, and thus close to the nerves, and I also have some dental work that was done very close to the nerves inside the teeth as well, and this toothpaste keeps all of those areas from hurting.
