The ingredient list states that this is the Petromalt using the "old" formula, based on Barley Malt syrup instead of the "new" formula (which my cat won't eat) based on Corn syrup. So, I ordered two tubes. However, I received two tubes of the Corn syrup formula. Thinking that I had received some of the old stock (Sentry HC has stated that they're bringing the Barley Malt formula back), I emailed customer service who quickly shipped out two more tubes --- of the same Corn syrup formula! Not good!

If you're looking for the "old" Barley Malt formula, this isn't it.

As of 1/6/2012, Sergeant's Pet Care is bringing the original formula back! The 2-oz plastic tube has R009536-1 P011240-2 code made with mineral oil, Acacia gum, Barley Malt Syrup, caramel, fish oil, glycerin, and a few other ingredients. The best part is that all the cats love it once again! Thank you, SentryHC!

My cat insists on this product each morning before she will eat her dry food. It seems to help with hairballs, a byproduct of her being a Mainecoon. The metal tube is difficult, however, to dispense towards the end and product is wasted. A plastic tube would be better.

My cats LOVE this hairball remedy! The malt flavor is preferred more than the salmon flavor. I clip their nails, and after a few calming words, I reward them with the recommended amount of PETROMALT, that way they see the clipping of the nails as a way of getting the hairball remedy they enjoy. Be careful while clipping their nails, always be calm and use soft tones in your voice, then give a little reward. If you make the experience a pleasant one, your cats will allow you to clip their nails and take the hairball remedy --- that is a "Win-Win"!

My cat didn't like the taste (she doesn't like chicken canned food either, only the fish will do for her), so I had to cut it into her food. She ate it not knowing it was there, and it cleaned her out. For some reason she will not throw up a hair ball, so, it has to come out somewhere. I gave it to her at every meal until the problem was solved, and now I give it to her once a week. She is much more comfortable cat now.

I've tried other products that did not work, but this really works. My cat has a very sensitive stomach and used daily she has no problems with hairballs.

I purchased this product for the 1st time and my kitty just loves it! So it must taste good. It's very easy to use, no mess, no fuss. My kitty is a 3 yr old medium hair american. With all her fur, she is constantly grooming and i needed something to help control the hair balls. Petromalt does the trick!

My cat just loves this stuff!! Like others, he likes to lick it straight from the tube and would eat the entire tube if allowed!!!

I use it as a "Treat" or Reward for coming when called. He instantly gets the glob. He now comes when called every time!
Also I have used it with other commands and this is his special reward for good behavior.

He still throws up a few times a week, but it's that time of the year with a lot of shedding going on.
Hairball remedy is basically a laxative.... Does not stop throwing up, but helps.

As pet owners, we need to take care of our furry friends and keep them feeling their best and comfortable as possible.

Our two girls are litter mates, nearly identical in coloring, size, temprement. One demands Petromalt and would eat the entire tube in a setting if allowed. The other hates it & has to be forced to take any. Naturally, she's the one who coughs up hairballs; the one who loves it doesn't. From that anecdotal evidence you might conclude that it works but whoever wrote "Cats Love It" on the box probably doesn't own a cat.
