I wouldn't feel comfortable putting anything weighing more than about 10 pounds into one; the bottom seems to rip out more easily than many brands. They'd be OK for smaller trash cans, but not for a 30-gallon kitchen trash can. I'll still be buying them for lighter jobs, but the plastic in these bags is nowhere near the weight of a heavy-ply garbage bag, in my experience. Not crazy about this bag, tell you the truth. I wouldn't feel comfortable putting anything weighing more than about 10 pounds into one; the bottom seems to rip out more easily than many brands. They'd be OK for smaller trash cans, but not for a 30-gallon kitchen trash can. I don't overfill my garbage cans, nor do I have an excessive amount of liquid in my trash (I even dry my teabags before I throw them out), but these are so flimsy that I have to double bag.
