They'd be OK for smaller trash cans, but not for a 30-gallon kitchen trash can. I'll still be buying them for lighter jobs, but the plastic in these bags is nowhere near the weight of a heavy-ply garbage bag, in my experience. I don't overfill my garbage cans, nor do I have an excessive amount of liquid in my trash (I even dry my teabags before I throw them out), but these are so flimsy that I have to double bag.
