Rising from the savannah of Northern Uganda, the "tree of life" produces a fruit rich in emollient, skin healing butter. Unlike its Wester counterpart, Shea Nilotica is soft and creamy making it easy to apply. Rich in vitamins A and E, Shea Nilotica improves skin conditions and aging skin.
Produced by the Otuwe Shea Butter Cooperative of Norther Uganda, Shea Nilotica enable some of the world's poorest woment to support their families. Many of these women escaped torture at the hands of their rebel captors. The women collect the kernels fallen from wild shea trees, winnow and dry them in preparation for the mill that presses the butter. This shea kernel trade allows the women enough money to send their children to school and even start their own businesses.
