Abbott products have been tested for BPA using the most sensitive and conservative tests available, and levels are undetectable for all powdered products and consistently 50 times below international safety standards for other infant nutrition products.
According to the U.S. Surgeon General, "The most important thing parents can do for their babies is ensure that they receive adequate nutrition. While the best source of nutrition for babies is a mother's breast milk, infant formula remains the recommended alternative when breast milk is not an option."

Proper hygiene, handling, and storage are important when preparing fortified human milk. Failure to follow these directions could result in severe harm. Powdered infant formulas are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants who might have immune problems unless directed and supervised by a physician.
Shake container of human milk
Pour desired quantity of human milk into sterile container
Add 1 packet of Similac Human Milk Fortifier to: 50 mL human milk (adds 2 Cal/fl oz) or 25 mL human milk (adds 4 Cal/fl oz).
Gently shake and feed
Storage: Cover prepared, unused fortified human milk immediately. Store in refrigerator and use within 8 hours or according to normal hospital procedures for handling human milk up to a maximum of 24 hours. Shake before using. Store unopened packets at room temperature; avoid extreme temperatures.
