Kids can use it without adult supervision. I'd heard some reviews that said it didn't work but my niece & nephew tell me they have had no trouble making slushy's using many different liquids.
This was a great gift for my 4 year old. It's easy for her to use and actually works well. One of the "ice cubes" had a hole in it but with a little adjustment on the liquid used we were able to make her slushy. Just the right amount for a small child. Little mess.

Only issue was one of the "ice cubes" had a hole in it and had leaked all over everything. Other than that it was in great condition.
Upon opening Slushy Magic™ package, the "Reusable Freezer Cubes" may be moist. This is normal as condensation may form during shipment and temperature changes. Hand wash Slushy Magic™ and all components with warm, soapy water before first use.
