I really like this! Im African American with fine Type 3 curls. I usually shingle my hair with it and it stays moisturized and defined for days. I spritz my hair with water to refresh. A word of advice: Use sparingly or you could end up with greasy and sticky hair but it does rinse out easily.

Pros: This product is the best I've found for defining curls. I lightly dampen my hair, work a little of the gel through my hair with my hands, and then use a fine-tooth comb to define my curls. A little of the gel goes a long way for me. Smooth 'n Shine does leave my curls very shiny. It isn't greasy, and I don't have a problem with residue.

Cons: Once dry, my hair still has defined curls, but they are a weird combination of being shiny, yet hard and dry to the touch. Trying to do a touch-up combing of my hair after the product dries is unpleasant. So, I pair Smooth 'n Shine with Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural for Women of Color Daily Oil Cream Moisturizer. Smooth 'n Shine provides the curls; Pantene Relaxed and Natural provides the moisture and softness for my hair.

I was on the look out for a curl activator that smells great, isn't sticky, tames frizz, and defines curls, and after reading raving reviews of this product I purchased it at my local drugstore for just [$]. I washed my hair with a non-harsh shampoo, 'Just for Me' (which is really for children's hair), and deep conditioned it with 'Smooth n Shine Critical Repair'. After towel drying my hair I sectioned it off into five sections and distributed 'Smooth N Shine Curl Activator' throughout my hair from roots to ends and then combed it out to ensure it was evenly distributed. I have very curly hair, but it tends to be frizzy, however after using this product my curls are extremely defined and the frizz is gone. I highly recommend using this activator if you have curly or wavy hair because it's especially designed for giving definition to each hair cuticle. Also, this activator isn't greasy or sticky like the curl activators we used to use back in the day of jerry curls. It smells good enough to eat. I hope this review is helpful to anyone who's in dire need of the perfect curl activator.

I've tried a NUMBER of products and couldn't find the right mix of curl definition and softness. I used it for the first time today and I LOVE the look. It's better than my old standard of hair gel (which made my hair crunchy) and hair milks (which made it frizzy). I am a CONVERT!

I took a chance on trying to use something differnt that my expensive but I love it KCCC. This works really well. It dries as if you don't even have any product in your hair just nice soft curl. Gives me definition without any crunchiness and moisturizing. But don't expect to have anymore than two good days out of it. I have 3C type african american curly hair.

I'm mixed african american and white and this product makes my curls tight and I like how once it dries, my hair still looks wet, but isn't hard like with other gels. I also found this product is not greasy. I can run my hand over my head and not get it on my hand...I can also wear a hat and when I take it off, the hat is not greasy and my hair stays in place.

I love this product. Now, I have shiny hair, loose curls and my hair is not dry. I hope I could always buy this product. Everytime I like a product it discontinue. I recommend that if you use this product please use plenty and it will work. My hair looks good for weeks. They reason people do not like this product because they do not know how to use it. Awsome product. I am Puerto Rico and I have tight curls and very very dry hair.
