I use the original Softlips regularly, but had never seen this in stores so I decided to add it to my online order. It is really creamy, but not greasy feeling once you put it on. It's a little expensive for everyday use (I go through the sticks like crazy), but would be great when you need a little something extra. What really makes this lip butter stand out is how it performs as a lip primer. I tried it before putting on some lipstick and it actually enhanced the color, making it much brighter than it normally looks. It also helped it go on much more smoothly because it evens out any lines and just improves overall lip texture. I'm sure this would be really soothing to chapped lips as well.
I use the softlips lip polish and then apply the lip butter. It's very moisturizing. It smells like plastic but it works so well that I can ignore that.
I love this stuff! I got it not really know what to expect (but kind of thinking it was chapstick-y... Like the Softlips version of Carmex in a tube?). It really is a butter; creamy, pretty thick, but silky and it gradually will soak into your lips. It's effects aren't eternal, though... I don't find myself needing to reapply often, but my lips don't stay feeling super hydrated like they initially will.
And I don't know if I'm crazy, but whenever I put it on (kind of generously, not just a schmear) then it looks like I'm wearing a slightly milky translucent lipgloss for a little bit! It gives my lips a weird etheral glow or something.
So, moral of the story, it's not chapstick, but it's pretty awesome. I like to put it on under a thin layer of real dense lipgloss... They'll kind of mix together and they look good, stay on, and stay moisturized!
