Comments about Solar Shield Fits Over Plastic Polarized 58 Square Clip On Flip Up Sunglasses, 1 ea:

I got these clips for my 89 year old dad. He wore this type of clip his whole life. He lost his last clip like this so I found it on this site. He is very happy with them. These can be used anytime. They are durable and easy to clip on and off. He likes the fact that you can flip them up when needed so he doesn't have to remove them.

Comments about Solar Shield Fits Over Plastic Polarized 58 Square Clip On Flip Up Sunglasses, 1 ea:

If you wear prescription eyeglasses, a matching pair with tinted lenses will cost big bucks. If you're happy with the inexpensive reading glasses sold in discount stores you can get tinted versions, but none of them have polarized lenses. When sunlight bounces at a low angle off of snow, ice or shiny road surfaces the light becomes polarized, which means the light waves are vibrateing in just one plane. (Don't worry about what that means, or look it up on Wikipedia.) Polarized sunglasses pass light in only one plane, carefully chosen to be at right angles with the one in the glare bouncing off the highway. You've probably seen the trick where you take two pairs of polarized glasses and turn them until they block all the light. Polarized lenses are also preferable at the beach or out boating, to cut the glare off the water. Light from a blue skyis also slightly polarized, so polarized glasses heighten the contrast when you're lookiing for shapes in the clouds; photographers use polarized filters to get this effect.

Clip-on sunglasses give you polarizatiion with whatever glasses you wear, and the best of two worlds. Clip them on when you go out inthe sun, and leave them off on dingy days. Whenyou go indoors, just flip them up; no fishing in your pocket for the other pair of glasses. Driving on one of those days ehere the sun goes in and out, just flip them up and down as needed. (But don't try to clip them on while you're driving; the little tab that opens the clip is hard to get your finger on, and you have to look close to get the clip to slide onto the right place in the center of your glasses.)

The plastic lenses are easily scratched. If you keep them on the dashboard of the car, always lay them face up so the lenses dosn't rub on the surface. They come in a plastic case; keep it and use it. They will eventually get scratched anyway, and the spring in the clip will break. But they're cheap. Think of them as disposable supplies like lens tissue.

Notice that they come in a range of sizes. The jobbers who put them out in my local stores seem to think that everybody is wearing the "fashionable" narrow, rectangular glasses that make people look like Geordie on Star Trek. I had to come to Drugstore.com to find the "square" size 58. Go to your local store and check the size chart before you order.
