I am a diabetic who has had issues with bleeding gums for years. After my Hygienist advised that this could be a precursor to heart disease and suggested that I floss more frequently I decided there had to be a better way (I am definitely NOT a flosser!). I have used the brush twice a day for just over a week now. My gums are no longer bleeding. My mouth feels clean and my teeth are "smoother" feeling, for lack of a better word. I loved the "start up" feature that is on this brush - it starts out gently then, as you adjust to the brushing action - "speeds up" until eventually you are brushing full-out. I also loved the timer that shuts the brush off automatically after you have brushed for 2 minutes. I would highly recommend this brush to others - and already have! Get it...you'll be pleased. Dentists are recommending this method of brushing, and the last time I was at my dentist's, they were selling it. I'm beginnning to wonder about the authenticity of the marketing, since I suspect there is a financial arrangement between the dentist and the manufacturer. The brushes are expensive, and the manufacturer is now recommending changing them every 3 months instead of every 6 months. These brushes are expensive and seem to go up in price rapidly! The system is bulky for travel. It was recommended I use these brushes, since many of us are wearing away our tooth enamel by brushing too hard with manual toothbrushes. I like these brushes, but I give them a low rating because I do not trust what appears to be profit mongering. I would like to see more competition with other products. Not everyone can afford these toothbrushes. Dental hygiene should not be considered a "luxury", but Phillips continues to market this way. They seem to be connecting with dentists similarly in a way the pharmaceutical industry entices the medical community to promote drugs. This type of marketing does not benefit the consumer in a way that is genuine. These items should be affordable for everyone. Comments about Sonicare e-Series Compact Sonic Toothbrush Heads, HX7012: The last three "double-sets" I ordered from DrugStore.com turns out had one defective brush included (but I was too dumb to realize!). By happenstance, I used the "good" brush first with the first two sets. The second brush would only screw on backwards, so that the unit is awkward to hold. Now that I realize, I will order one more set, but if it is the same then....too bad, I have used the SoniCare for over 20 years.
