This patented process produces marked changes in the crystalline structure of dicalcium phosphate. Particle sizes are altered and reduced in size - thus increasing the solubility range of the solid phase. The montmorillonite is changed to a new structure termed - phosphated montmorillonite. One tablespoon (15 mL) containing only 160 mg of elemental calcium provides, under ths process, the same amount of immediately available calcium as does 800 mg of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate similarly processed.
