Refined for High Heat Different oils have different uses, and each performs best within a certain range of temperatures. Some are made for high heat cooking, while others have intense flavors that are best enjoyed by drizzling directly onto food.
This oil is best for high heat applications like sauteing, frying and all-purpose cooking.
Comments about Spectrum Naturals Organic Peanut Oil:
Peanut oil is a must when cooking at high temperatures, since it's smoking point is higher than extra-virgin olive oil. I use EVOO whenever possible, including in cooking (don't believe that nonsense about it being too good to use in cooking- this is precisely what gives the health benefits cardiovascularly!) EVOO is great for sauteeing spinach, for example. But EVOO isn't appropriate for sweet (as opposed to savory) foods, such as waffles or pancakes cooked on a griddle. I refuse to use most oils sold that are not extra-virgin, as they've all been de-gummed, bleached, hydrogenated- all bad news. Not only that, but the taste of those oils isn't great, either. (I despise canola oil.) I am SO glad to find this organic peanut oil- I was using Planters brand before, which is okay, but this is healthier. I believe it should still be used sparingly, but it's great when neither EVOO or coconut oil (my other go-to) is not appropriate for what I'm cooking/baking. This peanut oil is a terrific substitute for corn oil, too, which is important when I'm making certain pie crusts & bakery goods. I will not sacrifice flavor for health entirely, but I also won't cook w/ sub-standard ingredients. Now I don't have to compromise!
