STIM-U-DENT® Thin plaque Removers are soft, safe, flexible wooden spaces between teeth and stimulate gums. Dentists recommend daily use (especially after eating) for maximum benefit. STIM-U-DENT® can be used as an alternative or as a supplement to daily flossing.
Comments about STIM-U-DENT Thin Plaque Removers, Mint, 320 ea:
I became (much) more interested in effective dental hygiene after having very expensive and time consuming dental work.
I consider brushing, flossing, and Stim-U-Dents (stims) to be ideally and most effectively used together.
The only time I could see recommending only the stims by themselves is for children in school, for example, when it's either that or nothing.
I carry in my car or backpack a kit including toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and stim's. That way I don't have an excuse to wait until much later after eating before using them.
I've used the stims for several years, and a year ago when receiving a regular checkup the hygienist was measuring my gum recession for each tooth and she expressed surprise that all the way around my gums had improved.
On the Thin versus Normal stims. I have very tight spaces between most of my teeth, and after using the Originals for more than a year, I was surprised how much more the Thin's were effective at getting between my teeth, even though I'm an adult male.
I think the Thins are especially suited for children.
A note about water picks (WP). Unless your dentist is recommending using a WP for a particular dental issue, I really don't see their effectiveness if one is doing a proper job with brushing, flossing, and stims. The advantage of the stims (versus WP) besides being more effective IMHO, is their cost saving, portability, and no equipment to replace.
How to tell if you are doing a good job on your dental hygiene? When you receive unsolicited compliments from your dental hygienist and dentist at your future checkups.

Personal note: When I first started learning how to floss I had a difficult time partly because again my teeth are very close together and the floss kept shredding. I tried the Original Glide and shredding became very rare. I also tried a number of other flosses and was surprised that the Original Glide was the only floss that didn't shred.
