I have finally found another retractable, compact powder brush. I have been wanting a 2nd Powder Brush for a long time now. I had not seen these for years - and I was so glad to find the Studio Basics Retractable Powder Brush on Drugstore.com.

So often when I find a product that I like, it seems to become a hard-to-find-item. So when I located the Studio Basics Retractable Powder Brush, I was ecstatic.

But it is longer and fatter than the Powder Brush that I currently have. I would prefer a Powder Brush to be at least as small as my current oval-shaped Powder Brush - 4 ¼" X 1" X ¾". The Studio Basics Retractable Powder Brush is 4 ¾" long, 7/8" round.

Since I have oily skin, I like to keep a powder brush with me so that I can easily refresh-and-powder my already-applied makeup.

Before going out, I apply my loose or compact face powder onto my compact Powder Brush [which fits in my purse better than carrying a compact pressed powder makeup case, for touch-ups].
I dab-off the extra powder from the Powder Brush - and then I twist-down and close the brush into the Powder Brush-Case.
The Studio Basics Retractable Powder Brush retracts - which makes it small enough to fit in a purse or even a wristlet - or even in the glove compartment - for quick face-powdering.

I did not like the non-sealed packaging of the Studio Basics Retractable Powder Brush. It came in a plastic snap-case, but it was not sealed for sanitary purposes. I have not yet used the Studio Basics Retractable Powder Brush - I am still using my current Powder Brush.

I bought this retractable brush because I needed something quick and inexpensive to throw into my purse. I did not plan on using this brush for an extended period of time, and I still don't plan on it. I've had this brush for about two weeks now. When i first received it, I was glad to see that it looked exactly like it does in the above picture. (+1 star for honesty) Some websites don't do that. I wasn't expecting much from this brush and with this, you really do get what you pay for. Pro's; It picks up powder just fine, it applies powder well, and it's very compact and easy to use. Con's; If you are used to higher end cosmetic brushes, you may be disappointed. This brush DOES shed and it is a little "pokey". I suggest, if you can afford it, you splurge the extra [$]and buy the "tweezerman" retractable blush brush. I would not buy this brush again.

I ordered two of these brushes nearly a year ago, and I haven't experienced any excessive bristle loss, despite my daily use and regularly cleaning them. It exceeded my expectations for being such an inexpensive brush. I plan on ordering more.

I haven't had any problems with the bristles falling out. It's a soft brush and gets the job done. The only complaint I have is that it starts to smell bad, kinda skunky.

Comments about Studio Basics Retractable Powder Brush, 1 ea:

This brush pretty much fails in every important way. The bristles fall out by the dozen -- so be sure to add some time to your beauty routine for picking them off your face. I used my brush daily, gently, for about two months -- then one day it just came apart. So my still-shedding brush was now no longer compact or retractable.
The size of the brush is nice, and the bristles that manage to stay in the brush are soft and pick up powder well, but that's not much good when the thing breaks.

Agree with the user below. Bad brush. Wish I would've asked for a refund or exchange. I realized that cheap things are cheap for a reason. I thought the design was cool and modern for its price, and was excited to try it out. But the minute I did, it started shedding. At first, only 1 or 2 around the face. But the more I used it to apply makeup, the more bristles fell out. They really should just make them more high-quality, even if it costs more. Will be throwing this away.

The bristles fall out. It's not as soft as an expensive brush. The stiffness of the bristles makes for a less smooth application. The case is a great thing though, and this is a good brush to stick in a purse or suitcase, but not for everyday use.

This inexpensive brush has worked very well for me. I haven't experienced any shedding bristles and I use it daily. The easy-to-use retractable feature makes storing it safely a snap! I definitely would recommend it for anyone searching for a loose powder brush.

This is the absolute worse make-up brush I have ever used. Before you start using it, shake the brush and you will see the bristles fall out. I should have known you get what you pay for. Don't bother. I was taken in by the other 4 star ratings it got.

Comments about Studio Basics Retractable Powder Brush, 1 ea:

I like a very natural look and don't wear foundation, just a little powder to even out my skin tone and keep the shine off my face. But I don't like the powder puffs that come with compacts, or sponges, because they cover too thickly and unevenly. This brush is great for carrying in my purse. It's soft to the touch and large enough to dust powder on finely and evenly. I wash it with anti-bacterial soap every couple evenings and by morning it's dry and ready to use again.
