Instead of following the instructions I simply sprayed my hair with this after my showers and brushed it into my hair. I never used a blow dryer and typically just slept on my hair that night so it would dry naturally. The change was very gradual but I LOVE that it only took 4-5 days of this routine to get my hair back to how light it was when I was younger and spent more time outside.

Also, I have very dark brown hair, which isn't recommended by the product but my routine worked perfectly.

I've never written a product review before but Sun-in was so awful I felt I had to warn others!
This product did absolutely nothing to the color of my hair, and I already used 1/3 of the bottle. The sun will lighten my dirty blonde hair naturally but it takes a while, so I thought I'd speed up the process this Autumn and buy a bottle of this product. All it did was leave it drier and more damaged. (And yes, I did use it according to directions).
I wish John Freida would bring back their Beach Blonde, which, I guess, was what I was expecting from Sun-in. However, no go.
Don't waste your time or money w/this product!

Comments about Sun-In Hair Lightener, Lemon, 4.7 fl oz:

I've been using Sun-In for years and my hairdresser says that she couldn't do better. I was a natural blonde for years, but my hair started to darken in my 20s. I spritz my hair with the product after washing a couple of times a week and dry with a blow dryer. I like the fact that it lightens my darker hair, but leaves my gray alone. (My colorist friend calls my gray my "platinum highlights.") I've had people tell me that they never would have guessed that I lighten my hair because I never have dark roots. It's a great cheap, easy non-messy alternative to regular hair coloring kits.

Comments about Sun-In Hair Lightener, Lemon, 4.7 fl oz:

I had to do something when my college friend fussed at me for letting my hair get dark - in my 40's! I tried a professional highlighting at the salon, but after the first go my hair ended up looking stripey with additional highlights.
I use this around my roots when I can see them. I love that I can control where I use it and how much I use.
I put a little conditioner in the bottle and only use it at the roots to prevent drying out my hair. This is essentially peroxide, so don't expect subtle highlights. If you're blond, it makes you blonder.

I use Sun-in to lighten my hair and camouflage the grey. So great that I can find this here year round since Sun-in seems to be stocked in local drugstores seasonally if at all.

Bought this initially for my teenage daughter to lighten her already blond hair. Saw immediate changes and decided to use it on my roots where my last highlights were growing out! Just spray in after shower before brushing out!

Comments about Sun-In Hair Lightener, Lemon, 4.7 fl oz:

I have used this for years. I have dark blonde hair, now graying, and I spray this every 8 weeks or so at the roots. Hit it with a hair dryer. I get the sun streaked, highlighted look that people pay a lot of money for. Somehow it evens covers the gray. Don't know why, and don't care! I have no time or patience for anything more.

I have been using Sun-in Lemon for years. I have dirty blonde hair that has some grey in it and when I use the Sun In it gives me lighter highlights that help blend in the grey. I use on damp hair and now I just spray on my roots, comb it through and blow dry. I notice the difference immediately. Nothing drastic my hair just looks brighter. I do it when my hair starts to look dull, around every month or so. I've had a lot of compliments on my hair color and it's because of the Sun In.

I have used this on my hair for years! I love it!! I do prefer the lemon and think it works better.

This IS NOT hair color. It's a lightener. It's not drastic. It brightens and highlights...and takes a few applications.

The sun by a beach or pool works best, but your hairdryer WILL work.

I DO NOT want to start coloring my hair so this is PERFECT for me. Works best for blondes.

I used this stuff a lot when I was a teenager. This stuff damaged my hair real bad, I had to get a haircut. I don't recommend it.

Works better on people that already have blonde hair. I don't recommend it for brunettes, no way!

The lemon and peroxide together is a horrible combination for the hair.

And it smells awful (I remember stinking up the bathroom so bad with this stuff).

Just buy a highlighting kit or go to a salon. Don't get this stuff.
