I'm a licensed cosmetologist, and to not be lynched by a mom of angry stylists, I'm leaving this review anonymously. Here's the facts: Fact #1: Sun-In uses a low volume hydrogen peroxide. Fact #2: Most hair colors and all lighteners use hydrogen peroxide, and most blonde shades use a much higher volume than Sun-In, therefore Sun-In is NOT going to "fry" your hair any more than traditional color. Fact #3: The difference is that Sun-In lightens your hair without depositing a color into it as it lightens, so natural "warm" pigments show through. So depending on how much natural "warm" pigments are in your hair will determine the results you'll get. It may take several applications before you've reached your perfect shade. Fact #4: Using a blow dryer on high heat will yield much more even and reliable results. Fact#5: I have been using Sun-In on my lt. brown hair for years, and my hair is soft, shiny, and no one knows I'm not a natural blonde!

Lets be honest: this is not meant to be used as overall color. I have strawberry blonde hair and normally pay upwards of $250 for highlights. I have used similar products before. In my opinion, if you use it sparigly and it achieves a great result. I use it 2-3 times every 3-4 months and deep condition and treat my hair well in meantime, it looks like I got a bit of sun and gives my hair a bit of a brighter look, I use very very little. Ok, so it is perfect salon hair but it is very very close and saves me over 1K per year.

Comments about Sun-In Hair Lightener, Tropical Breeze, 4.7 fl oz:

I don't use this on me. My hair is too dark. Really the only this it is perfect for is people who have blond hair already and want a few highlights. Don't tell, but I use it on my daughter. I wet her hair down telling her it will keep her cool outside, and then spray that on strategically. You can do it just on the top, just on the sides. Its really great, and the grow out is so natural. I only do it in the summer, because that is when she would be in the pool, (if she liked the pool!!) So there it is. My little secret.!! I guess it would be great for teenagers too, but most adult have to dar of hair, and it WILL turn your hair raid!!

Comments about Sun-In Hair Lightener, Tropical Breeze, 4.7 fl oz:

I got sun-in about last week. i have been using it every day since and i definitely like my hair's color much better. its what i wanted it to look like. i have medium brown hair, and i sprayed it where i wanted it to be lighter or give that natural highlighted look and then color came out like a blondish type of color. (i cant really describe it.) on the back of the product it shows the colors that r best to use with it and how the highlights would approximately look like. but the results of course may vary. over all, i really like this product, and recommend it to anyone who doesnt want to dye or damage their hair but make their hair look naturally brighter. i didnt really like the smell at first, but the 2nd time i used it i got used to it and now i actually like it. it kind of smells like a conditioner mixed with coconut. but the first time i smelled it, it kind of smelled like hair dye. but u'll get used to it! i hope this helps! go out and buy sun-in! it actually DOES work! (:

This product is amazing. My hair is medium brown to dark brown. I was expecting it to turn red, but it turned blonde! I was extremely happy. The product smells awesome, another plus. It was a strawberry blonde. But yeah, I suppose the color you end up with depends on your hair undertones. :))) HAPPY !!!

Comments about Sun-In Hair Lightener, Tropical Breeze, 4.7 fl oz:

I have been paying for costly professional highlights for the past 20 years with very good results and LOTS of compliments. I happened upon this product at a popular drug/convenience store in the clearance isle and tested on the roots closest to nape. I had fabulous results then started using on crown for "touch-ups" between highlights. Eventually I began to spot highlight my whole head. My husband says the color is the best he's ever seen it and that I was a fool to have wasted over $16K (yes, $16,000 over 20 yrs) when I could have done this all along. My hair feels great and doesn't have nearly the damage (breakage/split ends) after being processed for hours. My hair was platinum until age 5 then a darker ashe blond with red undertones. With this product and a 3x a week use I now have maintained platinum with golden blond undertones and LOVE the color! The strongest validating point was when a hairdresser said she wished she could get this color!! Run ladies, don't walk to try this product!!!!

Comments about Sun-In Hair Lightener, Tropical Breeze, 4.7 fl oz:

I love Sun-In! I've used it for about 3 years, since after Touch of Sun ceased production. It's a bit harsher than the old one, but not totally damaging. I am a dark brunette and get to a lighter dishwater blonde using this. I mentioned waiting on my order the other day and a colleague noted that she didn't realize I colored. I've also been asked what color I use to get it such a nice blonde. Due to the nature of the product, you get not a "flat blonde", but natural tones and highlights all with a few sprays and a blow-drier!

this product is great for lightning your hair. this product is specific for light brown hair or blonde shades, not for dark colored hair. after reading some reviews i can see that others didn't take the time to read that part of the bottle! i have sandy blonde almost brown and it works great and makes my hair look blonder!! DEFINATLY strand test!! ( better safe than sorry!!)

This product is great to use as a lightener. It's affordable and it works.
In response to lizzie dancer- the reason your hair turned reddish was NOT the product. It just means your hair NATURALLY has red tones in it.

I just bought this in hopes of highlighting my medium-dark brown hair to give it some of those sexy Victoria's Secret highlights that the models have. I didn't think it'd work right away, but I just sprayed it in my damp hair, blow dried it and it's already got some noticeable lighter coloring where I sprayed it. I love this product and greatly recommend it!
