In my lifetime, I have purchased several heating pads. Usually, they are vinyl with a cloth cover that can be removed for laundering. Unfortunately, the vinyl pad gets all scrunched up during use and it is impossible to straighten out. This makes it very ineffective. I bought this one because it is not vinyl and I am very happy with it. It stays flat at all times. Actually, this is the second one I bought; this one is for my daughter to replace her vinyl one.

This pad is very flexible and thin making it easy to place it where you need it without feeling like you're lying on lumps. It is so hot that we have never used it above the 1st two levels. Automatic shut-off lets you fall asleep w/o any worries. FANTASTIC!
