First let me say that I would only recommend doing your own brazillian after you have had at least a few done professionally. I have been getting these done for years, so I've seen (and felt) how the wax is applied and removed from the more challenging areas. That helped a lot! As for the product itself, this is the best result that I have had from a brazillian. I used to get terrible breakouts and ingrowns with professional bikini waxes, even with hard wax. Doing this myself, I get only a few, if any. It makes me wonder if a lot of the breakouts were related to bacteria in the wax and on the esthetician's hands in salons (YUCK!!!). I'm a nurse, and this thought really bothers me. I'll continue doing this myself for sanitary reasons!

Supplies I use:
2 jars Surgiwax Brazillian
1 tube hydrocortisone cream (over the counter maximum strength)
Cheap wooden spoons
Old bath or beach towel

Why 2 kits?
It is hard to get the last 1/3 or so of the product from the jar. I usually end up using 2 jars per waxing because of this.

Why hydrocortisone?
I also find it very helpful to buy a tube of hydrocortisone cream and apply it liberally to the entire area after waxing. This really decreases breakouts.

Why cheap wooden spoons?
When heating, use the handle of a wooden spoon that you can throw out to stir the wax. I bougt a 3 pack at the grocery store for around $2 and I just throw one away each time. At first this wax will be very hard to stir, and I broke my spread sticks trying to stir it the first time. Then I tried a metal spoon. The wax hardened onto the metal spoon and even boiling wouldn't remove it. The wooden spoon handle works much better.

Why an old towel?
You need something you don't care about to sit on. Some of the wax will get on the floor no matter how careful you are, and it does not wash out of anything! Use an old towel to protect your floor or furniture.

Shower in warm, NOT hot, water, just before waxing, and wash the entire bikini area in a good cleanser (either an antibacterial body wash or a natural purifying cleanser). DO NOT shower again for at lest 6 hours, or you will break out. Also, don't exfoliate the area for 2 days, then gently exfoliate every time you shower thereafter. This will help keep you from getting ingrowns between waxings.

Have the microwave right next to you, if possible (I dragged mine into the bedroom since there are other people in my house). You have to reheat this product often.

Read the directions completely and follow them! The really do show you the best way to do this.

Absolutely trim the hair to 1/4". I think clippers work best, but you can do it with scissors, too. Any longer than that and not only is it painful, but the hair won't pull out, and you are left with trying to cut the wax out of the hair. Wax removers won't work on this product, or any hard wax.

Use the oil that is included in the box. It really helps. This is another reason to buy 2 kits ... the bottle of oil is tiny and runs out fast.

I personally drink a glass or two of wine before I start this. By the time I reach the most sensitive areas, it doesn't hurt quite as much! If you don't drink, you can take a pain reliever such as you normally take for a headache around an hour before you start. This helps a lot!

Those are my tips. Even with the extra kit and the other supplies, doing this myself saves me around 65 dollars compared with salon prices in my area, and I get better results. Good luck!

I have had so many professional brazilian waxes over the years, I can literally fall asleep through one. To save some cash, I figured I should give at-home waxing a shot. I initially got the Gigi Honee wax with mueslin strips and that did a great job at painlessly getting off all the frontal hair. Unfortunately it is unforgivingly sticky (and doesn't wash off easily), which made it difficult to work with on the "undercarriage." I looked online and found plenty of good reviews about hard wax, so I figured I would give it a shot.

This product is inexpensive, and that is where the positives end. I tested it out on my inner thigh and it picked up one hair at best. I tried again and this time it fell apart when I picked at it, even though I only waited a few seconds! That involved me painfully picking at it to remove the wax from the hairs, and even with the oil it was difficult. I gave it another half-hour of trials on different parts of my body, trying to perfect the technique....nothing! And on the few occasions where it grabbed hair, it was like pulling them out one by one with rusty tweezers.

I threw the 98% full container out immediately....I am assuming that those that are posting rave reviews are not actually yanking from underneath? I don't know, but I would never pick up this product again!

Best bikini area wax we've found - very effective, but has a narrow window of use. It goes from too hot, to perfect, to too cool to spread quickly.

I was hesitant about this product as I figured it would be a pain in the butt and painful. However, it was super easy and hardly any pain. It was actually less pain then when I go in to get a brazillian.

This product was very easy to use. I'm used to going to a salon and getting it done for me, and if you compare it to that, then of course its quite different. The hardest part about it is inflicting pain on yourself, but just like any other wax, the first time is the worst and it gets easier from there. For me its a necessary evil and this is the best DIY wax I have found.

Use on underarms, hair gets thinner. Lasts for weeks.
Use on bikini not as drippy as other waxes, no strips needed. I like to apply a small amount of Olive Oil and wipe most of it off before waxing.

Comments about SurgiCare Brazilian Waxing Kit for Private Parts, 4 oz:

DEFINITELY leave bikini waxing to the professionals....HOWEVER, this wax set was very nice. Use the oil sparingly. The wax smells natural, not bad, it shrink-wraps around the hairs so it's an all or nothing commitment! It remains flexible when it hardens and doesn't crumble or break apart when removing from your skin. With that said, it is VERY difficult to remove if you're not in it with your whole heart. Take it slow and work from the outside in to gauge your pain. The price was perfect for me to learn to just pay the money and have a salon rip my poor hairs out so that I won't have to cry in my bathroom with every strip removed...I will use this set again though to get my bikini line. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for the full Brazillian...just trust me!

This wax is easy to use and it really gets all the hair.

The only problem I have, is with the pre-wax oil that it comes with, its too greasy. My hands slip on my own skin and it makes it hard to pull the wax! So I don't use the oil, though I'd prefer not to pay for that useless oil as I'm sure its cost is included in the price.

Other than that, the wax may be a little difficult to wash off but, it's not a big deal.

I have been a fan of surgi-wax for years, especially the Brazilian formula. I have course hair and this was the only thing that worked for me. However, recently I purchased six boxes from drugstore.com, the containers were only half full, and it was definitely NOT the same wax. This new stuff is a different color-my first clue that the wax has changed (for the worst), and it stays tacky, making it difficult to work with, and it doesn't remove all of the hair. I'm bummed that Surgi-wax has gone down hill. Time to find something else.
On the positive side, my order shipped very quickly!
