I'm a scant 5'2" and have shoulder strain from reaching for high shelves, et cetera. Metal ladders are heavy and awkward, and one that I bought from a well-known discount store was so badly designed (couldn't see or feel the bottom step when on top - fell off of it twice) I put it out for trash pickup.

This little stool is lightweight, easily moved, and even works well on carpeting. I love it and plan to get at least one more.
