Several factors can affect fertility – age, ovulation irregularities, reproductive organ scarring, and the number, shape, and motility of sperm.  It’s also important to reduce stress as much as possible. Here’s some different ways to detect fertility, and help you conceive.

One way to reduce stress and increase your chance of conceiving is to use a fertility monitor.  Fertility monitors can put your mind at ease by detecting the best times to try to conceive.  There are several on the market, but by far the most popular is the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor.  This monitor uses urine tests to detect a surge in luteinizing hormone.  This hormone normally increases about 24 to 36 hours before ovulation.  The Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor then tells you when your most fertile days are.  It has even been shown to be 99% accurate.  It is a little on the expensive side, but your peace of mind is certainly worth it.

Another great fertility monitor is the OV-Watch Fertility Predictor.  This watch is worn while you sleep and displays your fertility level the next morning – no need for urine tests.  The OV-Watch will tell you the four best days to conceive (the four days before ovulation).  This watch is only reliable in women who have regular monthly cycles lasting from 24-35 days.  It is also a higher priced item, but its convenience may be worth the price to you.

Fertell is a fertility monitor that tests fertility in both women and men and has been shown to be 95% accurate.  For women, it detects the amount of Follicle Stimulating Hormone, an indication of your ovaries’ ability to produce fertilizable eggs.  For men, it tests the concentration of motile sperm.  Poor motility is often a cause for male infertility.  And because a man is less likely to go get his fertility checked, a home kit like Fertell really increases the chances of finding out if there is anything wrong with his sperm.

To increase your fertility, you may consider taking a fertility supplement, such as FertilAidFertilAid for women pairs fertility enhancing ingredients, such as Chasteberry, with the vitamins and minerals needed for basic health.  FertilAid basically functions as a multivitamin, so do not take a prenatal vitamin along with it.  However, you may want to supplement with a little bit more folic acid to get to the recommended 800 mcg per day.  FertilAid can also help regulate your periods, which is important if you also plan to monitor your ovulation.  FertilAid makes a formulation for men as well.  It features L-Carnitine and other nutrients to help support healthy, motile sperm.

Another product that can help with conception is Pre-Seed Intimate Moisturizer.  This lubricant works without harming sperm like other lubricants may.  It has been pH balanced for semen and helps provide an optimal environment for sperm.  While you’re trying to conceive, vaginal dryness may be a problem, so a lubricant like Pre-Seed becomes essential.

And, of course, on the happy day you think you might be pregnant, you’ll need the right pregnancy test.  The Clearblue Easy Digital Pregnancy Test is a great choice as it displays your results digitally, is over 99% accurate, and costs about the same as other pregnancy tests.  It also can be used as early as four days before your period would normally start.  This means you can test before you even miss one day of your period!

It is also important to take care of your general health while trying to conceive.  Eat a balanced diet, get enough rest and exercise, and if you smoke, stop immediately.  A healthy lifestyle should help reduce your stress level and help you conceive.  Good luck!
