Various Ways to Highlight
Highlighters are cosmetics that are applied to areas of the complexion that appear the brightest when they are struck by light. When used properly, a highlighter leaves the skin looking healthier and brings out the beauty of a woman's unique facial shape.
There are many different types of highlighters available.
- Powdered formulas are very simple to sweep on and are generally the easiest type to blend. These products provide subtle results.
- Cream formulas appear more prominently on the complexion and can stay visible for longer than many powdered formulas. Some even come in stick form, making them simple to apply.
- Liquids provide long-lasting benefits with sheerer coverage that is more similar to a powder.
Where to Apply Highlighter
So where exactly does highlighter go? You can dot a little on in any area that you want to brighten, but when you're contouring with highlighter, there are some key spots that you'll want to accentuate.
Most pros apply highlighter between the eyebrows, in the center of the forehead, in the center of the chin and above and below the lips. In addition, highlighter is typically used in the areas just under the eyes, directly above the cheekbones and along the cheeks in the area that borders the nose.
Products for an All-Over Shimmer
Shimmer cosmetics are used to enhance the radiance of the complexion. They may be dusted on all over the face or just onto the cheeks. While any woman can look gorgeous with a shimmering finish on her face, ladies with mature skin often benefit the most from shimmers. This is because the light reflecting particles found in these cosmetics can make fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging less visible.
